Favorite Whiskey?

Jumping in this thread a bit late...

I tend to drink more in the "quantity" category than the "quality" category, but I appreciate good whiskey when I get my hands on it. I'd try to even the score between the two categories, but my wife would ruin it for me. No matter what I buy, she'll mix it with far too much water, ice, or something carbonated.

I think my favorite blend of both worlds is Buffalo Trace...decent quality and a great price IMO. It's never in stock locally though. Any recommendations for similar value? I'll try and read through the last year or so of this thread, but I've got 4 kids, soo....(hence the need for whiskey).

Bowman brothers is buffalo trace juice made by them. Buffalo trace is my go to daily, by 1.75s like they are going outta style.

I would too if I could...it's only in stock about 1-2 days a month where I am. I don't get it...it comes in to the local ABC and sells out within 2 hours, despite a one bottle per customer limit. Yet I go out of town, and there are bottles 4 deep in every liquor store I visit? Makes no sense.

 

It’s because people are starting to realize what it is. It’s triple copper distilled bt. The single barrel is the same mash bull as blantons but a 10 year. I was buying it by the case at 28 bucks a bottle. Local guy I get my pappy, stag, weller, has it for 50 and it sells like crazy. I go to Myrtle beach and buy it for 32.99 and it has dust on the bottle and sits.

I picked all those bottles up today. He still has a shitload of bookers on the shelf with dust for the last year. It like 90-100 a bottle and just sits. No one buys it. Some guys can’t even find the stuff and this guy can’t give it away.

 

Booker’s just sitting there. Gasp - WTF!

That's awesome. The ABC store in VA will let you order online...unless it's a product like Buffalo Trace that's in "limited supply." I don't think anyone in VA delivers without a 75%-85% markup.

 

Might pay you to go outta state or have an outta state member ship ya some. @JoeySauce is good people. I brought some stuff from sc to pa for him. Good bourbon buddies are hard to find!

 

TW is renewing my faith in humanity. It's incredible that you guys do these things for one another.

 

We love bourbon! I can get stuff down here that he can’t in pa and vice versa. Bunch of us are always buying for each other and trading bottles.

 

I'll buy Buffalo trace for anyone who can buy me weller... haha

 

3oz pour of Buffalo Trace tonight. 5 weeks in & this little dude is kicking our asses from about 0100-0500. The rest of the day he's just like this: sound asleep & not a worry in the world. This 1.75 bottle won't last long

 

Whether it be allocation or distribution, we all have different options in availability. Other than drinking, trading/meeting new friends is probably the best part of whiskey

 

My haul for today. Got the banana one because y’all were talking about it and it put me over the amount I had to spend to get $10 off. Also my store always has Buffalo trace loaded on the shelves it doesn’t seem to be a big whiskey town if anyone needs it we can work something out.
