That the dreaded CEL comes on and today was the day.

    40 months & 229k miles later…

    P0430 & P0420, catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1 & 2.

Got it cleared with my scanner, hopefully it doesn’t come back as it disables both radar & normal cruise control. Very annoying…

Anyone run aftermarket cats with any success? I’m sure OEM are $$.

Would this be bad cats? Or some kind of sensor? Odd you have codes for both 1 and 2

i have the OV high flow cat dump tubes and rear cat delete, so no stock cats. it's a success. no codes, but i have that switched off in my vF (Coyoza) tune. runs so much better than it did with stock stuff, but my whole exhaust is non-stock front to back.

    How’s the drone on highway?

I had a borla cat back on for 10k miles. The drone under load going uphill got too obnoxious to listen to for 4+- hours of driving a day.

mine is not an off the shelf cat back, it's a fully custom system that has been tweaked several times. i don't have anything I'd call drone, although it definitely starts like that if you throw on a URD Y pipe and leave it. my exhaust is one of the best parts of my truck now.

Probably 75% highway, 25% pothole ridden WV county roads. Surprised the truck hasn’t rattled apart yet. It does not live an easy life.

Solid. This is first check engine light. Never broken down. Regular maintenance. Still on stock clutch. Burns no oil between 5k changes.

It is starting to show some signs of wear though.

Throwout bearing is starting to chirp periodically. Clutch pedal just began to squeak also.

Damn near a quarter million miles in less than 4 years with basically no issues; gotta tip your hat to that machine brother. Get her fixed and keep driving!

    That’s a road warrior!

You can try some snake oil called Cataclean. For some it works miracles and for others it’s just blinker fluid. But for $25 you have nothing to lose.
