I set up a subwoofer today and I have done so in multiple cars/trucks but while finishing my install I had a question.

Why can't the remote line tap directly into the 12v battery positive?

I know normally it is done by tapping a acc 12v or radio power line. But I always have a on/off hard switch due to wanting to be able to kill the sub sometimes ( late hours/podcasts and more).

Since it won't always be a live line due to the power switch is there and reason I shouldn't just use the 12v power onto the amp? All I can think of is due to it being "always hot" but that's the same as the amp power line in.

Thanks for reading and any answers!

No real reason you can’t, it’s just a 12v signal.

The thing that gets complicated with switching the main power to the amp is you need a big switch. Switching the turn on wire requires much less current and let’s the subs circuitry handle the big power switching.

Thanks for the reply! I was talking about running the 12v remote line from the 12v in on the amp > stitch > remote in

not running a switch on the main 12v power line
