I wanted the trail in lunar, but it’s not available to put a deposit on, neither is the trd pro. Any clue when we can place an order with a dealer to get in line for an allocation? On the TRD off road, is the premium package required to get led headlights? That’s the only feature I want from that package. Thanks!

There is no line for allocation that you can get in from the Toyota factory as there is with some other manufacturers. The dealer gets allocated some vehicles, and you can potentially get in on one of those allocations, but don’t think you have anything with Toyota, it’s 100% between you and dealer. On the allocations the dealer gets, there may be some pros and some trail but they won’t know until they actually get the allocations. At that point the dealer can sometimes make some small changes to the vehicle spec. So what you are looking for is a dealer that’s been allocated a Trail in Lunar, or a Pro from the sounds of it, and ask that dealer if you can reserve it. If a dealer takes your money without an allocated vehicle that matches what you want (and many do) they are gambling they can get what you want, which has ended up with a lot of pissed off people. This is also why some people who thought they “ordered” got the vehicle in a few weeks while others wait months.

Does Toyota have a national search engine? I have decided on a trd off road lunar grey double cab, tech package and led lights only. Will travel anywhere in the us to get it, won’t pay anything over Msrp

I don't think there is a single Tacoma sitting on a lot anywhere, let alone one matching a specific set of requirements.

Find a good dealer, ask them to tweak an allocation to your suiting if they can, or tell them your wants and wait the long wait till they can get it.

I wanted the Tech plus LED, ended up getting Advanced Tech only. Still took 5 months

Good info, I’m fine looking for one allocated and waiting. I have a spare vehicle and won’t have a trade muddying the water. We just did this very thing with a 21 4Runner and ended up only waiting 2 weeks, dealer did a trade to get one we wanted, otherwise it would have been 8-10 weeks

When I brought mine TRD-OR, the LED headlight is part of the Tech package, $500+ dollars. I am pretty sure you can get it alone without adding other package.

More likely they are "gambling" that after waiting months you'll be worn out form all their excuses you'll purchase a "close enough" truck already on their sales lot.
