Got a little muddy driving down the lane to hunt this morning. How do you gals/guys clean the mud off your under carriage? I was thinking of driving through the auto wash that sprays from underneath but I'm afraid the brushes won't like the Prinsu rack. Don't have a brushless system local. May just have to break out the powerwasher and crawl around on the ground? It's in the 30°'s so that will be fun.

$30 bucks on on Amazon and you can get a under body power washer attachment.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Put it up on jack stands (as tall as you can), pull off the tires, grab your pressure washer, and plan to get dirty and wet. Keep spraying until the ground is about 2" thick with slop. Let it dry, inspect brakes & grease the slide pins, grease up the F&R drive shafts, put tires back on, remove from stands, pull it out of the way, shovel up the driveway. Really sucks after a late fall or winter wheeling trip, but it keeps it in good shape.

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
I only use coin wash after muddy range roads/off road; first visit washing out of undercarriage places I can reach while just bending over, wheel arches, frame sides, spare, my pro skid plate, underside
side steps; cost about $15 CDN. Mass under truck is terrible, but this is one of self service washes allows you to wash MUDDY vehicles with no bitching about.
Usually second visit, in few days, for finishing the process, I wearing rain rubber outfit, laying down on the floor and washing the rest of rocks, clay e.t.c. About $8 CDN.
Once a month repeating step 2 (in winter season, regardless off-roading or not) winter months just to get rid of salt, road ice e.t.c. It's simple, just don't be afraid to get your rain outfit wet...

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
Common practice in these parts is multi mile drives down dry dusty roads AFTER getting an oil undercoat.

The oil does the rust proofing, the adhering dust keeps the oil from dripping, washing off.

    NEVER was that stuff off!

Yea power washer works great. Pick up one of those multi-angle tips that goes in all directions for those hard to reach spots. I got one from Home Depot.

I have a 3 foot extension with a swivel on the end for a water hose that I use to spray off road salt or mud. You could just drag a water sprinkler under the truck.

Other than taking the garden hose to wash the heavy mud buildup off, i haven't really washed or waxed my truck in way over a year.

Hah! And if you are offroading across the backroads and trails of New Mexico to get to Texas in winter and the daytime temp gets higher than freezing, forget power washing! You need to use a jack instead and drop all those plates, because only a paint scraper will get that shit out! :annoyed:

I was mainly joking. But yes, in
winter time I always rinse off my undercarriage at a self car wash before parking the truck home.

Also after every off-roading trip I make sure to give my undercarriage a good wash so the mud does not dry.

About 3 times a week because that’s how often I run mine through the automatic car wash. It blast soapy water straight up and then rinses it. I live where they dump salt on the roads. Truck is 12 years old and the undercarriage has little to no rust.
