I know my TRD Sport has the LS diff. My question is, does the Off Road version have LS? Can you have the locker and LS? Or is it one or the other?

I was looking at the new Fords, and the FX4 which is the off road version has the locker but no LS. Just wondering if this was the case on our Tacoma's as well.

Same thing almost. Since newer trucks use Auto-LSD (fake limited slipp) so Offroad version in theory would have AUto-LSD and Locker.:p

Nothing fake about TRAC or AUTO LSD... they slow down a spinning tire just the same.

The advantage is you get fresh pads with every brake job... If a limited slip differential clutches wear out... $$$

The 2005-2008 TRD offroad trucks have the locker. They DO NOT have the (mechanical) LSD.
The 2005-2008 TRD Sport trucks have the (mechanical) LSD.

The 2009+ trucks all have the AUTO LSD.

As an OPTION - I think you could get all the electronic stuff (VSC, ATRAC) on the earlier trucks. I'm not sure if those OPTIONED trucks had the Auto LSD instead of the mechanical (with the ATRC/VSC). I remember telling the dealer (when I purchased my truck) that I didn't want all that electronic stuff.

    If they wear out, ....
However, you can also simulate constant slip for 40 miles, just put your handbrake on for 40 miles and see how that works out for you. Do that every day for a week. :D
