@Calamity_taco Thanks for the recommendations on similar trailers, I’ll add the rest to my list.

@POSTacoMike shop will be separate for sure, I’d love to put in a 40x60 pole barn with high ceilings for a lift and a nice loft. Plenty of room for a couple projects and storage. We’ll see, house first haha. In the meantime I can use my fathers garage on the next lot over.

Their manufacturers specs state 36.8, but if memory serves me, on my 17x9 rims they measure about 36.5 (aired up).

Sweet house your planning. I build for a living so if you have any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them for you.

About those 4th Gen Runners. This has been my wife's daily for 2 years today. I'm expressly forbidden from doing any mods. Although she did mention skids, sliders and larger tires the last time she went hiking with a friend. They ended up at a remote trail head that's a little hard for most people to get too. Since I pay for all the mods on my rig I told her I'd be happy to install them if she bought them. Then I told her what a lift, tires, skids and sliders cost. That ended that idea. lol

Super nice, also picked up their “hatchet” and handed it over to my SO.. turn around and she’s taking down 20+ foot oaks and cedars lol. Love my growing red tool collection.

Thanks bro, you’ll always be welcome, and be sure to bring Miss Piggy, she’d have a blast running around with Moose!

Careful, the amount of questions floating around inside my head is something else!

I can relate as well, as my SO talked to me about things she wants done to her Subaru, I told her I’d be happy to help her out and she too pumped the brakes when I priced things out haha.

Congrats man!! Wish mine was out there, still basically in the same place - everything I need to do requires welding and I haven’t had time to bust mine out and learn.

I moved recently back up to the Sierra’s (Alta) so I reached out to a couple of friends that wheel a ton to see if they weld and want to help. Have one that said he’ll help me out, but he’s out on the rubicon and fordyce for the next couple weekends, so we’ll see.

If anyone reading this is in the Auburn/Colfax/Alta area and wants to lend a hand let me know, happy to pay. I basically just need the triple shifters welded up so they all come out the stock j-shift location, I think I have the routing designed so it’ll work, just need to get some all-thread and glue it up, and then I need to cut and tub fenders. That’ll be enough to get it drivable.

I have sliders and a rear bumper to do as well, but those can be done last.

So, circling back, it’s close but still not out there. Life has been a whirlwind since the start of this year; got married, moved, new jobs, and paid off over 100k in debt with about 45k to go in preparation for a house. As much as I want to finish the Tacoma, it’s been a low priority in comparison. With that said, things are starting to mellow a bit, so as mentioned above, if you’re nearby and weld and want to make a few bucks helping me wrap it up let me know

Man, would I love to come down and help! Good on you for prioritizing! I'm fortunate to be in a place where the kids are all grown, and have time to wrench. And wheel. One day, I will come see the Rubicon, and Fordyce

At loooooong last, things are happening again.. big things..

    8AEE3AE1-A77B-44F2-83C7-7F9AC9FE3DC3.jpg

Here is the truck heading off to my friend and fabricators house, I didn’t realize it at first, but it is also a squirrel action shot!

Sooooooo, as those who have been following this know, but perhaps have forgotten since the build has basically been on pause for what seems like years, I was building this truck to ride on 37s and IFS. Well, things snowballed, and now its going to get all chopped up and SAS’d with 40s and tons :bananadance::spending:

My buddy who is doing the work is very familiar with the swap, and with local vendors, so I should be able to get through the whole process pretty efficiently as far as cost goes. 3 linking a D60 with 2.5 12” Kings up front, 14 bolt rear (will shave) on Chevy 63s, locked front and rear with ARB and 5.38 gears.

With that said, here is a shameless plug; I will soon be parting out and posting up everything IFS related for sale - wheels/tires, suspension, tundra brakes, bud built skids, IFS components, diffs, rear 8.4 axle assembly, steering components, some other parts like the coastal off-road rear bumper that would probably look a bit ridiculous with a 40” tire on the swing out, etc.

The majority of the parts that will be going up for sale are new with literally 0 miles on it since the truck has been sitting for the last two years, some are even still in the packaging they arrived in - the components coming off this truck have less than 80k miles and have been refreshed with new parts where possible, an example, the LCAs have new whiteline bushings, new DuroBumps bump stops, new OEM ball joints, and new OEM camber bolts and adjustment cams.

Feel free to PM me if you want the jump on anything and we can work something out, otherwise keep your eyes on the for sale section here in the next week or so as I strip everything off the truck, take pictures, and post it all up.

Well, the point of no return has been crossed - picked up axles, gears, lockers, SAS kit, anti-wrap kit, Chevy 63s kit, and some other odds and ends. 8F44C1D8-F40C-4202-B8E9-CD5E6F4BA721.jpg

I’ll be picking up the rest of the steering stuff, a few brake items, and some more odds and ends like pre drilled 8x6.5 hubs next week.

Lol yeah.. sent that to my buddy who’s doing the work to let him know I was on my way over.. he said “looks expensive” Not cheap, was a hair under 10k for everything I picked up yesterday. I’ll be happy to share a complete parts list and the total cost once everything is done, I know there are a few of these out there, so more info in the SAS dataset will hopefully be helpful to those interested in doing it.

I’m going with WFO for the bulk of items, a few bits from TG for steering and the oil pan. I figured the more kits I can pick up the easier it’ll be on my buddy who’s doing the fab work, which will save a few dollars

Now this is a change! I can't believe this thread is already this old, just a reminder how much time flies. Have you ordered your Kings? Or have you scored a used set? Their lead times sure seem daunting these days. I'm stoked to see the process and the outcome, keep us updated!
