New sub-compact tractor tires (24"x12x12 & 16"x7.5x8). I'm sure I could get it done at a local place for $50. Maybe it will be worth my time. My rear tires are original and over 6 years old. The front are nearly bald and only 3 years old. This is a newer type Zero Turn tire. I'm going with this because of the unusual tread pattern. From what I read, they provide the most traction for Zero Turns on steep hills than any other tire those users have tried. I'm hoping they provide great traction in the snow as well.

    upload_2021-11-5_14-51-5.jpg

So yea, maybe I will call a couple places and ask them what they charge. Or just bug the fuck outta @68dave to see if he can do it. From the videos I've watched, the hardest part is getting them to seat. And there are some crazy tricks out there for it too. LOL

:goingcrazy: maybe my fence will be long done by then.

Although I am just now noticing a serious issue with some flashing on a section of sagging roof that could potentially be disastrous if I don't address it before it begins snowing. I may just jack post it though until the spring. :anonymous:

I had one I could not get seated for the life of me. The tire was deformed from storage. I had to take it to Mr. Tire and they used something like a co2 canister to instantly inflate it. Was like $20 a few years ago.

Yea, they all ship from Chiner and to save cost they use an industrial food saver machine I think to pack them into the smallest boxes as possible.

In one video the guy put the tires on the hood of his truck in the sun and did them later after they heated up.

In another, the guy used a 5 gal plastic bucket with a towel draped into it, then sat the tire/wheel on it which pushes the wheel up against the lip of the tire on the bottom, then you just have to apply pressure to the top and hope it catches and seats. He was very successful.

If that doesn't work, you can add a ratchet strap to compress the tire forcing it to expand the bead section top and bottom helping it to seat. Obviously, you need different size buckets for this method if like me you are doing 12" and 8" wheels. It's a 2 gal bucket. I have one. A block of wood or a cinder block would work too.

Another guy took it to the next level and filled a deep sink with water after placing the unseated but mounted tire in there. The water inside the tire acts as way to introduce air quicker using hydraulics. Simple physics. If you want to play with getting all the water out afterward, have fun. But it's doable. I don't have a deep sink.

I'm sure there are hundreds of tricks.

Some things I took away. [side note, one of dogs ass smells like something crawled up it and died!]

I think the idea of softening the tires somehow if you're doing this like I am in the cooler temps to help them regain their original pre-shipped shape transformation is sound. Maybe I can fit them all in the dryer and run it for a half hour on high heat. NOT! They will just rest in the warm house a day or two.

Another cool tip [Jesus I need to buy more air freshener] the guy said "taking the valve stem core allows air to enter the tire more quickly". Not only did I not know this, I was unsure how he would pull it off without the thing in the stem that pushes the plunger in on the fill valve. Well guess what else I didn't know?! That is that a quick disconnect end of an air line fits right on the valve stem!!! Voila!!!! I'm sure @68dave is getting a good chuckle at my expense from this. Huhuhhuhuu

Apparently, seating tires is more about the speed of the action than the force required. Must be why a lot of braves souls use a liquid or gas propellant. It's nearly instantaneous. So........it goes without saying, it is possible.

I'll try the air and bucket thing first. Curse a lot second.

Hey all, anyone going to the Holiday-OAA meet, I want to put together some sort of white elephant gift thing for any TW folks. What do y'all think? Bring something wrapped, Taco or TW-related, max value of $30, and we can do a white elephant thing around noon. What do y'all say?

Third break light recall. Four different dealers said it could take a day, week or maybe a month plus. It really depending on how bad the damage is and if they can get the parts it fix what ever is damaged. That is if there isn’t any mold. If so that’s a whole another ball game..

The RCI and Cali Raised are 3/16. I think it’s between those 2 and I’m leaning more towards the Cali Raised.
