i believe u can remove those fob sensors and just use it a a regular key. i saw a youtube video on it. it was pretty simple. but that means you have to use your keys to lock and unlock.

Looks like they knew the truck might be able to be tracked by toyota when they smashed the antenna. Im actually surprised you got the truck back if they knew to disable the GPS on it. Im going to go out on a limb and say it was on its way to a chop shop, but the order changed so they just ditched it.

At the end of the day I can’t live in fear of it being stolen or I’ll never use it anymore. That’s why I have insurance. This has taught me a lesson. Gotta be careful about getting too attached to “things”.

None of the police I spoke to thought the key FOBs were how it was stolen. They said that was just one of the ways to gain access.

The thieves also chucked whatever sends the last parked location to the app in a ditch because I’m still getting that location when I refresh the status.

I just bought a few of those faraday pouches as recommended in the above video. Now I just just have to figure out how we incorporate their use in our routine.

As for those Apple AirTags. If those things are so great, why did I find one in the gutter mixed with leaves and debris in front of my house? I saw it there for maybe a couple weeks not knowing what it was. It had a silicon case and just looked like trashy debris. When I got around to cleaning up after a wind storm, I picked it up instead of scooping it up with all the crud that was going in the bin and it made a little jingle alarm noise. First I had ever seen one. It's been on my table now for weeks and I always pick it up and it chimes. Nobody's been knocking at my door to get it back.

Exactly, its not some rare care youll never be able to get again. Its a Tacoma...…………. Insurance will handle it. Now, if someone stole my classic car I would be a little more sad, but I would collect insurance and just get another one

I think OP has a later model that didn't have that issue but I can see someone doing that if they didn't care about their truck

Love these videos, 13 seconds of information crammed into a 13 minute long presentation. Makes you feel like you just got roped into a timeshare pitch.

    None.
I hid an Apple AirTag tracker in each of my vehicles. Cheap and easy LoJack alternative. Really rattled the Mazda dealer when I told’m that I did not appreciate my vehicle being used for a lunchtime run to the nearby Arby’s.

Lots of YouTube videos of people using them to find their stolen stuff.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not but another thought that came to mind on this was that the door handle was broken. All they have to do these days is get inside and access the OBDII port. There's a good chance they never even copied your key signal. Perhaps try and install a dummy port and move the real one.
