This isn’t what everybody thinks haha. I did my homework!
Just had new wheels and tires put on the taco(3rdgen). Went with fuel rebels 17x9 w/+1mm offset, and falken wild peaks a/t3w(265/70/17) in SL.
Picked up the truck after everything was done and went on my way. After getting home and admiring the new setup. I noticed they mounted e load tires instead of sl. My question is, are the e load tires going to decrease mpgs to the point where I should have them swapped out to sl tires or should I just run with them and call it a day?

E-load tires will definitely ride rougher and usually weigh 10+ lbs more per tire. I'd swap them out for the SL ones if you'd like to have maybe 1.5-2 mpg better or don't like the ride. That said if you paid for (usually cheaper) SL ones and got e-loads for free, and like to go offroad, I'd keep the secret to yourself! I've never gotten a flat with e-loads, even down to 10psi offroad without beadlock wheels.

That was my understanding, on weight and mpg’s. I don’t off-road enough or hard enough to benefit from e load imo. But I did get them for “free”, but I’m not sure if that’s a plus for me considering I’d be spending more at the pump and not benefiting from it haha

I would swap them out, E Loads are overkill if you're not wheeling or towing imo

It's pretty common for shops to have 265/70r17s so it shouldn't be an issue

I'd swap. If you wanted SLs and asked for SLs the shop should have given you SLs.

But....I have E-loads and don't mind them. They ride fine but the weight is something you can't get past.

It's a nice looking truck for sure. I like the front end a lot.

Lol - someone was hungover at the tire shop.

have you been able to tell a difference in feel driving around since the install? What did you have on there before? I'd stick with the E's but they will certainly take a chunk out of your mpg. I did a lot of research before getting my tires, and one thing I did notice that was E rated a/t3w look wayyy different than the SL version. Much deeper tread depth and an overall stronger look.

but like others have said - if you specifically wanted the SLs for the benefits of the SLs....you should get the SLs!

I haven’t gotten to drive it all that much. Except for the “test drive”. Can’t recall noticing anything then. Maybe it’s cause in my head I know these tires are stiffer, but when I drove it back from americas tire I was like dam this suspension sucks.
