Get a top handle, they aren’t cheap, but small, compact, and easy to pack, also make fast work in trimming.. I’m a husqvarna person though, going way back to Sweden.

Mine tends to sit, but used as needed, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, backpack blower, snow blower, weed wacker, and something else. The VP is a bit more $$ than I need in my tools.. now if I was still running my KDX, I would strongly consider it as play fuel, and run the powermist on race day. Another good alternative is aviation fuel if ya have a small municipal airport nearby, I believe it’s 103..
That’s an old picture, but itll test your taco knowledge , so here’s the hint. First year of the V6 taco..
Or as in this case, the first year of the liquid cooled KDX.. LOL

If it were a Softopper, it takes unsnapping 20 snaps, pulling a couple of velcro strips and unclipping a pair of webbing buckles. About 2 minutes TOPS! ;-)

Looks correct I guess. Thoughts? (Still reading through the various threads on the matter of spec and results)

Most stressful thing, putting it in place. If my friend John wasnt there with his big brain, id be sitting outside staring at this 1000lb paperweight.
Tacoma is in the photo, so last post in this section about this thing.20211105_192958.jpg

Snapchat-285834576.jpgGot me a shell finally. Luckily they had one in stock, otherwise it would've been a 4 month wait.

Got the Talon's Garage cat security plate installed this afternoon. Pretty straight forward install.

I carry a small to medium size Husqy, can't recall the model #. that I got a deal on years ago. Big enough to deal with most deadfall I run into or fire wood at camp. I'm also handy with a machete and that is mu first go to tool for clearing. I can't imagine needing more than a tanks of fuel on a day trip, so, you're probably good with filling before you go. Because my trips are usually for work, PPE is also included.

Here’s an option that makes pulling and storing the shell super easy: https://garagesmart.com/collections...ducts/truck-top-lifter?variant=30606105804871 Of course, easy isn’t cheap. I got one of their lifts for my Skycamp Mini so I can easily put it on when I need it rather than driving around all year with a tent. Also I don’t need to wrangle my neighbor into helping me take it on and off anymore.

Here’s a 10% code for any of their lifts: FRIEND-FCFMQXW

I have never needed a chainsaw on the trail but no judgment here. That is because I am not doing the kind of hardcore, out in the middle of nowhere off roading that you are doing. I can see how having one would be very handy, though. If you go down this path, Stihl makes a good little one that might serve your purposes:

    https://www.acehardware.com/departm...V1waICR3MlgnuEAQYAiABEgLHCfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I use that a lot on one of my properties and it gets the job done. I will say that if you go down this path, it won't be something you just throw in your truck and leave it there. Maybe it is just me but I find I have to be meticulous on the maintenance. Better for the chain saw and also a lot safer.

    Good luck !

I put on a CURT front receiver hitch the other day. I even cut the front air dam to suit and reinstalled it. Only #350 tongue weight, but a useful location to hang a clevis.

No photos, 'cause I don't wish to irritate those who do not abide the front air dam. ;-)
