Bad dealer service, am I over-reacting?

I'm usually pretty low-key and let stuff slide, but this last trip to the dealer really pissed me off. Here's the e-mail I sent to the service advisor. Name withheld to see if they make it right.

You need to chill the hell out dude, it's a little grease and a some handprints, I realize that $45K is a lot but thats not expensive for vehicles most dealers work on, chillest customers cars I've worked on were in the $80K-$120K range.
I've never understood the logic of "my washer fluid wasn't filled/tires not at the exact pressure I like equals who knows if they even changed my oil/rotated my tires"

Best of luck with whatever resolution you want from the dealer.

Grease isn’t a big deal, it’s going to happen while working on the vehicle. If it was on the inside I’d be pissed.

however the steering wheel would piss me off. I’d ask them to make it right.

What service were you there for out of curiosity?

Do you have photos of these items just before the dealer visit? Are you 100% sure they caused all these marks and scratches on your less than a year old truck? I'd bet some of that was there before.

I've worked in body shops my whole life. At least once a week there would be that customer stating there is "new" damage to their vehicle upon pickup. They would magically walk right to it. So we always took photos as they are dropping off. 4 corners, up close, interior, everything. Then when they claim new damage, we show them the shit was there already.

I'll meet you in Duluth if you need to borrow a rag to wipe off the grease.

The only thing that would bother me is the paint scratch over the gas tank lid. And can you prove it wasn't there prior to drop off. Grease can be handled with a rag. Finger prints, same rag. Maybe should've just asked them to run it through the car wash before returning it.

It sounds like you just had a build up of minor things and got to the point where enough was enough. I think we have all been there. I think some responders could also chill out too.

Wipe the grime off, leave them with your “screw you” email, and move on is what I’d do.

the scuff would bug me. If I did the damage myself I wouldn’t care but if someone else it would bug me.

as far as making it right, repair? Idk.

Honestly probably best to let the whole thing go and do services themselves.

I learned my lesson after I caught the dealer lying about changing my oil.

Looks to me like you’re overreacting hugely. A little grease and a small rub on the steering wheel on your $45k truck (not expensive at all, average price in fact) is nothing to get worked up about.

Every time it brushes your fingers you'll think of that time you got roasted on TW. I'd go ahead and ask the dealer to replace.

But really you will learn to love that mark have one on my wife's steering wheel pretty sure I subconsciously steer off it.

X3. The Toyota dealers in my area wash/detail any vehicle that gets service. Most of this would have been avoided if that happened.

To be honest, I would be pretty hot about the scratch on the gas door.
