Doesn't the MT Tacoma hold the brakes on hills and backup sensors detecting something??? I just got my truck and yesterday trying to back out of my garage the brakes 100% engaged and I couldn't move. Took it out of reverse back in and off I went no brake release was just a normal back up. I chalked it up to my backup sensors warning on one side holding my brakes. I also noticed on hills the brakes engage for a second to keep you from rolling back. I suspect your issue lies with that system.

There is a hill start assist that momentarily holds the brakes when starting uphill. Below are some excerpts from the Taco white paper. As best I can tell from the system description, the parking sensors don't trigger the brakes.

If the shoes lock up first try firmly setting, and then releasing, the parking brake. Then VERY firmly apply the brake pedal and releasing, maybe even two foot it

the parking brake apples pressure from one location and the regular brakes apply pressure from a different location. Using both may be enough to crack the thin layer of rust that is locking the shoe to the drum.

the shape of the drum makes it hard for a lot of water to get inside (unless submerged), it’s mostly just little bits of water and/or high humidity that causes surface rust to bond the shoes to the drum surface. It doesn’t really “freeze”, as in Ice, just freeze as in getting stuck. I suppose the shoes themselves could be wet and freeze to the drum proper as well, although I have a hard time believing enough water would get into the drum to soak the shoes

Mine doesn't, but I don't have backup sensors. Or hill assist.

usually more of a winter time issue

road salt/sand + brake filings accumulating can lock brakes right up

cant imagnie Ur brakes getting wet from a simple wash

U must be using a fire hose

a drive around the block is all thats needed to clear brakes

U might be having an ABS issue from something getting wet

mine has frozen up twice after washing, and the last time it took about 2-3 mintues and some careful gas peddle to ease it out of the garage to get it free and i live in a warmer climate in NC.

I am having the same issue , i had it this morning and badly, could not roll forward or backwards , had to force the truck hopefully i did not break anything and washed the truck on Saturday. So the consensus among the group is that once you wash the truck either drive it for a while or not use the parking break after washing it?
