Also I think 2014-2015 plus the 3rd gens have the most platinum. Mind you I’m sure the thief’s don’t care.

Do you think wrapping expanded steel around the Cat is my best option? Thank you

You want to prevent them from getting up there and removing it. Usually I think people make it hard for them to remove it even if they cut it off.

Give a thief enough time and they will steal the world.

in this case, they will get the cat out but it's just a matter of time. so if you constantly piss them off with obstacles, they might give up for then but they might be back another time.

Over all, expanded wouldn't be so bad. if they cut through it, they're gonna have a fun time getting cut by it.

I've seen people use razor wire, if you really wanna be a dick. They go to grab it and slice, there goes one of their fingers. Sweet karma strikes gain.

There is of course the option of cutting off the cat and welding in a pipe. The aft cat is downstream of the O2 sensor, so it's unmonitored. The muffler shop where I did the crossover pipe reroute actually proposed this.

I don’t think it’s a dick move. Hate thief’s. would be crappy though if a mechanic got cut because of it though.

Illegal to modify emission components, will pollute more.

Imo anything you can add that's an obstruction to it will probably deter. The faster and known other vehicle down the street will be more desirable to the thief.

In today's world, you'll get into trouble faster for not wearing a mask at the mall  The front cats do most of the work. That's why Toyota goes out of its way to cast the exhaust manifold into the head, to bring the front cats even closer to the engine. Fundamentally if the aft cats made enough of a difference, they'd be required to be monitored by OBD2.

I agree on the getting caught aspect. The probably worst case it would come up on a safety inspection if selling it.

I dont doubt that the emissions impact from the rear will be minimal. Genuinely curious if there's good data on this around now.

The technician that did my crossover pipe reroute also does Ontario safety inspections, so...

It's illegal. You cannot set booby traps.

Pfft, it's NOT a booby trap (hehe boobies)...claim it's a zinc sacrificial anode to prevent corrosion of the exhaust. Ain't a judge in the land that would rule against that of some cretin with stitches on his hand performing DIY on not his truck.

    Or, insurance...dunno

A good judge would because that's the law. Even if someone is breaking into your house and they get hurt because you've put nails or razors in the window sill, it's your fault.

The owner cannot create a condition that is designed to cause injury. The owner has no right to dictate the punishment that will be given to the trespasser

But anyway, I don't think cat theft is as big of a deal as people make it out to be. If someone takes mine I leave it off and use the insurance money for a bumper
