Show us your bit storage solution

Like a lot of people I feel like I have a ton of 1/4 hex driver bits of all kinds. Right now I use a couple of different size Dewalt bit cases and I keep them tucked away in a drawer. I often find that I use a bit that I keep attached to my impact driver even if it isn't the ideal bit only because I don't want to dig out my storage cases to find a more appropriate bit. I'm thinking I need/want to keep a set of bits right on my bench top but I can't seem to find a bit holder that I like (or even a pattern for one I can make). Do you keep often used bits on your bench top? If you got a solution that works well for you share your pics!

 

My solution doesn't look particularly tidy but I use small yeast jars and tin cans and just jam everything in on end. Long drivers, drill bits, etc. I can still find, and grab, everything quickly and have them mostly sorted. I keep my good bits in a drill index.

It ain't pretty but it works for me.

 

Exactly as I do now, but keep the cases on the bench top. Not ideal, but works OK

 

I keep mine in trays on my workbench, but I think I’m going to build one of these tomorrow.

I'm just as the OP, but have a similar bit deal like your dewalt except mine is B&D brand. Then I have a cheap plastic tool box with a storage in the top, a lift out tray and in the bottom are a couple of organizers with screws and anchors, along with a torpedo level. The bit storage thing I keep in a top drawer of a bench in the garage.

 

bump ... anyone else have a bit storage solution they'd like to share

 

In my garage, I have a bunch of bits in a plastic container. If the one that I want isn't easy to find, I dump them into one of these trays: I pick out the one that I want and "pour" them back into the container.

I do the same thing with nuts and bolts and screws.

 

I have 3 sets 1 in my road service box

1 in my machine shop tool box the other in my living room tool box .

in reality the Road service box is the only one where the bits get returned the rest are scattered all over the shop and some get washed when I also launder my change.

I know I could have made this but I found it online for $3.99 (plus shipping) so I went and bought a couple. It does sacrifice some bench top space but not very much and I should be able to find bits a lot quicker now.
