Same here, for half a Century November meant deer season. But have reached the point where I don't want to drag them out of the woods never thought that would happen. And I came down out of tree stands when most people went up in them. I much preferred to still hunt them one on one.

Seen an 8 pointer, 10 and son said he seen a 4 point in the yard today. Could just sit on the deck and shoot them and up until a few years ago had archery butts for a 60 yard range next to the house. Now I prefer to just use the camera. But November still means deer. To me.

Battery in the Pentax died and spent half the morning dorking around getting pics of deer with the phone none of which turned out well. And still don't have the camera on the phone down yet ended up with a video of the 10 point. Hey my first video and not by intent LOL. Not a good one either and can't see the back or brow tines. But at least 18" spread if not closer to 20". On the bed. We played cat and mouse for a couple of hours. Chip shot with the bow.

My place is a breeding, bedding and nursery for deer. In the Spring have seen a fawn drop more than once and mom clean them up and the first steps.

    Good luck!

Agree but not totally, don't dismiss your shot! Nice job.

Was stationed in San Diego in the 70's. For 5 years. When in port my goal was to get out of San Diego and head East across the mountains. Or sometimes to the South. Just saying but is that picture really of San Diego as far as districting goes, just saying :p

Did see my first mulie in Cleveland National Forest. There is a lot in the surrounding area that is in stark contrast to the City itself. From what I recall, not sure I may have slept a time or 2 since then ;)

San Diego County is what I was getting at. On a super clear day, you can see the ocean.

    1636268498884.jpg

Surprisingly there's a lot of wildlife around that you wouldn't expect to be here.

Since you mentioned getting out of the city, today we headed out far east to visit a spot called "Desert View Tower". Amazing 360 views of the desert.

    And boulder carvings.

Then we headed down Old Highway 80 to drive the border wall and hit a few trails in Jacumba Springs.

    Screenshot_20211107-000755_Gallery.jpg
    Screenshot_20211106-230150_Gallery.jpg

Then cruised up to Mt Laguna.

And finished in Julian for dinner (Old Mining Town).

San Diego is a absolute photographers dream BTW, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Oh and thank you for your service :oldglory:

    Thanks Zim!

I was stationed in Camp Pendleton and got out a decade ago. Wish I did more exploring when I was down there. I do miss the SoCal weather at times. Thanks for sharing your photos!

For me November is usually the best month for falconry. The ponds haven't froze up yet, so there are still ducks around to catch.

    Here's a nice shot I took with just a 35mm prime lens!

    And then there was this...

    _crash2.jpg

It turned out that someone else from our astronomy group had already arrived, pulled the injured from the burning car, and rushed them to the hospital. I wound up putting band-aids on the other driver with no idea what else to do, calling in the blind for help on a ham radio. Thank god everyone survived.

    That looks seriously awesome.

A charged cell phone, even one programmed for 911 only calls and a fire extinguisher / first aid kit along with GPS Coordinates in the case a patient needs air lifted just to name a few.

Agreed. There were like a dozen cars racing that night, not a single one had a fire extinguisher! I have multiple fire extinguishers and a 12 gallon water tank (with a pump and a garden hose), but arrived probably 15 minutes too late for it to do any good. One of the kids wanted my fire extinguisher, lol, you couldn't even get within 10 feet of that fireball, and the tires were starting to explode. Nothing to do at that point but try to keep it from spreading to the hillside. Lucky this wasn't a month ago with dry terrain and Santa Annas blowing.

I sure feel bad for the poor couple they hit, obviously for their injuries, but also because of the inanity of the situation. Take that fast-and-furious shit to a race track.

I'm signed up for wilderness first responder training next year, too late to help here of course, but never been more psyched to have it on the calendar. I happened upon a far-worse wreck before the pandemic, way out past Joshua Tree, with straighter roads and faster speeds. You can have all the first aid shit in the world and still feel pretty useless when suddenly faced with an open chest wound and no idea how to treat it. It took almost an hour to get an ambulance out there, even though we had cell service and one of the vehicles involved had OnStar. The horn kept blaring the whole time, changing pitch as the battery petered out, but never stopping. I hope that guy survived.

Speaking of processing things, here's another photo.

Another reason to have GPS on your phone or a dedicated GPS unit to be able to give coordinates for a helicopter if needed. Great job being prepared and planning ahead for future training.. and keep posting the great photos.

    November .
Typically it's the month here that has the least sunshine ,not this year so far . It has been unusually warn and nice so when I saw the forecast this week I decided to take Friday off and go to Killarney Provincial Park for a end of season trip for some camping ,canoeing and hiking. The scenery is always spectacular and this weekend did not disappoint . This photo was taken this morning in front of my campsite .
