just letting you guys know that i contacted Phoenix Friction some time ago about their aftermarket clutch offerings, because URD disco'd their stage 2 & 3 selections, so only OE clutches have been available.

they got back to me and currently have OE replacements in stock on their website, but that's just OE spec. i asked about their other 3 versions, a stage 2 kevlar, a stage 3 kevlar, and a stage 3 ceramic kevlar. this was their response:

We can produce all 3 but because we have limited stock we are reaching out those on our wait-list first. If you need one of these clutch kits, please call your order in as soon as possible before the website shows the kits as available.

just an FYI to any of you considering a stronger clutch than stock. i like my URD stage 2 so much that i was seeking a replacement in case i needed it, so i found these guys and it looks like they may be a special order deal. speaking for myself, my clutch situation is now stable (yay!) so i'm not ordering one, but i thought some of you would like to know about a possibly available upgrade.

im reposting this here, thought some of y'all may find it relevant...‘21 stock manual transmission… I just got this truck a week ago with 1400 miles on it and I’ve put 400 miles on it so far. I got the xxt kdmax tune from phich in San Antonio yesterday, super easy experience nice and helpful dude. So far I am pleased with the change… less hesitation on acceleration, and the power is more evenly distributed throughout the full range of rpm. Before, there wasn’t much power to speak of until 3500rpm was reached and now I have more low rpm power accessible which suits my driving style. This makes the truck more enjoyable to drive. I was on the fence about whether to go with kd or coyoza and due to availability in my area went with kd. If I get to try coyoza in the future to compare, I will report back. So far I can def recommend the kd max for a manual, the improvements are a steal for the cost.

Reading through this thread I see the URD and Core short shifters mentioned, anyone try the B&M shifter?

Too much in love. Somehow the Taco competes with my bike for attention. I still can't understand that.

    Hi everyone,

First time caller long timer listener here.

A couple of months ago I had the urge to trade in my 2020 AT for an MT and knew it was a complete pipe dream with all the supply chain issues. Just for fun I called up my local dealer and asked them how realistic getting a 2022 MT within the next few months would be and they said not very likely…but they could check on getting me a 21.

Long story short they were able to magically get me the EXACT truck I was looking for - an MGM MT Off Road with the Advanced Tech package and a 2k discount from MSRP. I felt like I won the lottery after reading some threads about people waiting 8+ months for their MT Tacos.

So far I’m loving it. I never really had any issues with the AT, especially after getting it tuned. Big big shoutout to the man, the legend himself @tonered for helping me tune my old truck and the new one. I’m running the regular SFOB and the truck feels linear and smooth. It’s been about 12 years since I’ve consistently driven a manual vehicle so I’m still getting used to how to shift properly, again big thanks to Tony for giving me some tips and tricks to make the experience smoother.

I’d like to master the driving the MT taco before I do any mods but I definitely plan on bribing Tony with some beer to help me with the ADM and would eventually like to change out the transmission fluid to make make the shifts even smoother.

Here’s all three of my Toyotas before I sold the Sport. For what it’s worth I did swap the hoods before I sold the sport but the color match and metallic flake was so HILARIOUSLY off I had to swap them back

    Hey.

I'm happy to help you out. Let's get on that ADM to sort the whole situation.

Reach out if you need anything else.

Are all MT’s created equal ?
I was recently in a social setting, chatting with three men I had just met. The conversation got to cars. One guy was raving about the joy of driving a MT car and it’s advantages over a AT. And, how much he loved driving his Miata. I’m thinking, “Here’s a fellow MT guy”, so I tell him I too love my MT and I have a MT Tacoma. I was met with a look of horror and asked how could I possibly compare a truck to a Miata?
So, at least in that guy’s eyes, the MT club is not inclusive of its working class, distant relatives.

    Too funny.

I live near a city/in the suburbs and do just fine with an MT.

Your post got me thinking and trying to remember the various MTs I've owned.
    • 91 S-10 4cyl, first car bought with my own money
    • ?? Geo Metro 3cyl
    • ?? Plymouth Reliant (it wasn't)
    • 9? Saturn SL2
    • 94 Saturn Vue 4cyl
    • 19 Tacoma Sport
    • 20 Tacoma OR
I feel like there is one or two missing, but they've come and gone.
