OP you remind me of this one really poor kid that I went to HS with who had just moved out of the city. Kid ironed his jeans and t-shirts and would freak out if he got the smallest smudge on his clothes, or a wrinkle.

Point is, you need to learn to at least act like you've had nice things before if you don't want to be ridiculed.

You remind me of my best friend's wife. She cleans the house before their cleaning lady comes over. Neurotic

I have. I used to be a mechanic. That’s why it bothered me, I’ve been there.

Why don’t I do my own service then? As I said in the email I sent, I’ve always had great service there in the past. I’m currently holding down a full time job, taking 14 credits for my bachelors in engineering, doing the national guard thing, and supporting a wife and two kids. I’ll let Toyota do the oil change.

da fuq? I’m not even going to touch this one.

I took the advice, took my balls out of my wife’s purse, and stabbed everyone at the dealership. Feel much better now, thanks for all the entertainment TW!

Washing your truck before it gets worked on is like wiping your ass before you take a shit.

Man, it seems like some people here like to be a$$hats for no real reason.
Some of these guys work at dealerships, so they get defensive really fast. I bet they don't act like that at work, but they talk a big game in anonymity.

Unfortunately that's capitalism for you - your production and customer interactions are all that matter, not you. In retail or semi-customer-facing service work you have to bend over backwards for customers and a lot of the times either your customer over reacts or tries to pin you with something you didn't do at all (whether either is factual in this situation is up to OP himself, not others' opinions). You can't very well say anything to a customer's face and if you work in the industry, or have, you would know that as well. That's exactly why people are so willing to talk about the BS they deal with at work in personal or anonymous gatherings.

In my province, new automotive techs and some (I wish all) service advisors are taught to walk around a vehicle with the customer and list all damage, or take photos so they can't be blamed for something. I can't speak for the states but auto techs where I live are also taught to be honest and act with integrity. If you fuck something up you tell someone and fix your damage. Sure there are bad shops but there are also some really great shops. The bad shops are usually owned by older guys who don't care about the customer, only want money, and underpay their highly trained employees.

Lol, thanks for the solid chuckle.

It does sound like you have very full plate but sadly as I'm sure you're aware many in the service industry (all industries these days perhaps?) DGAF about their customers or doing their job correctly. A new truck is a solid investment so I'd make the time to do it yourself or take the time to scope out a versed individual to help with maintenance (you shouldn't have a problem vetting someone since you're a former mechanic.)

You're not over reacting. You pay for professional service, you should get it. If you hire carpet cleaners for your house you don't expect them to leave messes behind, the dealership shouldn't be any different.
