Lol damn, a 9/16 is way over kill for that and only one per side isn't enough to combat flex, three 3/8 would have been more appropriate or maybe two 1/2. You need to spin larger drill bits slower, can't be full sending them or they'll dull from too much surface speed.

 

I like to hit it with a punch twice to put a nice indentation so the drill bit doesn't walk.

 

And use plenty of pressure. Too little and they just slide instead of cut.

Shit so u think one per side with a nut and washer impacted down wont hold? Ill need another? Yeah i was going slow at first but the old arms were dying hahaha

 

It's easy to start spinning the drill faster once it starts to bite, but really it's the slower speed and downward force that'll help cut through the metal.

 

Man... Was walking my daughter in her stroller, almost back home and a large elderly guy with a cane was limping down the sidewalk. Have seen him before, think he lives a block down. Anyway we get about 20 ft by him and I hear a THUD followed by this painful cry. Dude tripped and fell hard right on his head. Ran over and parked the stroller and helped him up. Saw he had blood running down the side of his face.
Got him some towels and bandages from the house and luckily some other people came out and were able to walk him home since I had my kid with me. My daughter kept going 'man fall DOWN man fall DOWN' over and over to him lol.

That was shitty though, feel bad for the guy

 

That is awesome that you helped him. There are so many other people that would have just walked the other way. Well done!

 

Turned around and saw it and can't imagine not doing something, people would have to be stone cold hearted to do that.

For sure! need to cut off maybe a half inch from the bolt to fit but one side is done

 

That came out well. I guess you lose a little space at the corners of the bed for sliding stuff in/out but if it keeps the bed from splitting and splaying outward then it's a sacrifice worth making

 

That's the cleanest that's been in a long ass time

 

It's only cause of the bolt used for the D ring he has, otherwise I marked them for the brace to be towards the tailgate for minimal loss of space.

 

I found the smaller Lincoln welders are a little finicky, but the big ones are nice.

I've never really had an issue with Lincolns of any kind. I really just have issues with Harbor Freight units, usually they start with poor inrush current and breakup for a second. I'm eyeing a Miller 250 next for the garage. But also kinda thinking I want to get a bigger multiprocess so I can justify having TIG around too. This Lincoln and the one at the shop however have been great from start. I think they might be annoying to someone starting out because they don't give a lot of fine adjustment for power so they expect you to tailor your usage of the gun to make the in between.

 

Tbh I'd do two more - about 1.5 to 2" from the corner as well on each face

 

He knows it’s the only thing we’ve got on him; definitely has the most prestigious car collection here.

 

Also, I'd use crush washers to prevent backing out over time.
