RSI Smart Cap

I just put mine cap on yesterday. I also did not put on the foam tape on the front rail because it was just barely taller than the sides.

Did anyone else not realize their bed was out of square until they put on this cap? I'm wondering if it's been out of square this whole time and that's why I had issues with my BAK revolver X2.
I have purchased stiffeners and am waiting for them to ship.

 

Has anyone added insulation or foam to their shell?

No doubt the composite bed will still be cold as shit during winter -- but I figured putting some closed cell foam around the inside of the cap might help kill some heat loss and dampen sound.

Also figured maybe for easier removal in the future that anywhere foam went down, I'd put permanent vinyl first so it could just peel right up (in theory...)

 

I’m waiting for someone to post the interior measurements. It will be real easy with some strong magnets to post up whatever cloth/ covering you want.

 

I asked the same question in the other SmartCap thread. I'm curious about this too. More for summer than winter though. I was thinking something like Reflectix

 

I still want to see this crushed bed.

Key Hole Lube!! It say's Apply to Mechanisms and friction-

 

I gotta do this before winter these locks and latches are so cheap the few snowstorms I did have it for this spring the locks almost corroded completely and I damn near snapped a key off in them from the salt.

 

Does it help? These locks are worse than described, in my experience...

The locks don't even want to accept the key in past whatever that little metal flap to keep out debris. Once the key is finally inside the cylinder, it usually turns fine, but more than once I've had to wrestle the key in there.

Is that why we're given 3,847 keys -- because half of them will be broken off trying to unlock the damn thing??
