New grill needs adhesive

My new grill just came in but the rubber stripping on the corners isn’t sticking. What can I use to reglue it back on that will hold up and dry clear and quickly? Check the pic.

 

Contact cement or rubber cement. My favorite is Pliobond as it's resistant to most shop chemicals and it's easy to take off/reapply if you screw it up. Use it to glue a lot of rubber to metal components repairing cameras.

 

Do I even need the stripping? The site photo doesn’t even show it.

I did the install. I called ExtremeTerrain and they said it’s a new design with the rubber. I took it off and the figment is perfect if I didn’t take it off it would have been tough to open the hood. It’s not necessary. They used crappy adhesive and the rubber just pulled off. After awhile I bet it would have just came apart. Here’s how it looks now after a few other mods.

You might want it on there. Without it, you might start hearing a slight whistle at high speeds and it also stops bugs, dirt, water, etc from getting into the bay. How much of a gap is there between the hood and the grille?

When I pop the hood I need to lift it to get my fingers under to open it.

You have options.

1. Call supplier, request a replacement, send it back
2. Call the supplier, ask them what adhesive to make repair.
3. Repair yourself, with an adhesive to bond rubber and the grill plastic.
4. Remove the rubber.

Personally, I'd run the through #1 & 2 first.....expecting #3 to be hit/miss, finally settling on #4.

 

Ya I ran through all those steps and am happy without it. I think it fits just perfect.
