    Would it be possibly to put the 80-series frame under the previous generation's body?

    The early 1980s Cruisers only had like 125hp I believe; Durable and reliable, but agonizingly slow! I guess the key is to get a salvage title 80-series for the frame and then put it under the body of the older truck?

    1980s but forget the specific model; There's one from Spain in this thread that I photographed at a car show in New Jersey.

    The one I saw was an FJ73; This silver one is a 70-series, but I don't know the specifics just by looking at it...

    @Speedytech7

    This one is also NOT triple-locked; How come those seem to be so hard to come by?!?!

    It's not something dealers just ordered in on a whim. Gotta remember this isn't/wasn't a normally stocked Toyota, dealers had to request em and they're not cheap. They made it easy to buy by lowering the avail options and making em cheaper.

    So most triple-locked FJZs were fairly stripped down (by FJZ standards)? Also, this green one did have rear disc brakes; You said some without the triple-locked diffs had drum brakes in the back but every single one I've seen has had 4-wheel disc...

    Most triple locked ones were custom ordered so they're probably not stripped down. The thing is if they were going to order one to have sit on the lot cuz they usually only have one Land Cruiser on the lot unless they're super affluent area that one would usually not be fully loaded in every aspect so the cost wasn't outrageous

    You're unlikely to see a non-abs truck after 1994

    I probably would have gotten one with the triple-locked diff, a sunroof, and the most expensive stereo system (CD/cassette, etc), but not the leather seats; Were FJZ80s ever available with heated seats?

    Knowing what I know now I'd probably still go for the triple lockers, but I'd get no sunroof, cloth seats, and who cares about the stereo I put a better one in anyway. Mine originally came with the premium sound, which I guess for 1993 a CD player was doing pretty good, had nine speakers too.

    I don't think 80 series ever had heated seats in this market

    I'm talking back in 1993-1997 if I bought one new; Nowadays, I'd rip out the entire system, installed a 12-inch sub, and even put in a backup camera!

    I just wish mine didn't have a sunroof or the leather. I'll get rid of the leather seat eventually though.

    Nah I don't like head units with large screens and the visibility out of an LC is great with all the huge windows and absolutely zero safety features haha. Im pretty good spacially, even with the Tacoma have it's whole back window blocked I get around great without a camera
