MBRP "Cool Duals" dual side swept exhaust, Volant Intake, Blacked Out Tail lights, Touchscreen Kenwood DDx616 with a 10" Kicker CVR in a custom Box, 2 Kicker Comp 6" Speakers, Removed front and rear mud flaps, Weathertech Floormats, Kobalt Slim Toolbox, Chevrolet Air compressor
I just bought an MBRP dual side swept catty back and you could say it sounds like a ricer... looks sick though and i already had the connections welded so im kinda stuck with it... So talking to my auto professor he suggested a new pair of headers could deepen the sound and a K&N Air intake. Anyone got a similar setup? or suggestions would be helpfull too!

Ehh. Touchy subject. From what I've experienced and have also read here. Your not gonna get much more out of then what you have. I have not seen your exhaust personally, but having a TRD single on my V6, there are times it sounds a little "ricey" and times I get the deep below depending RPM.

Headers may help a little but a K&N is just going to mask it a bit with cabin noise. In all honesty it's an import V6 not a small block chevy. I think all of us would like that throaty sound. Sadly it is what it is...

Edit: OP, didn't realize your truck was a 4 banger.... Your pretty much effed for anything other then that rice sound IMO.

so i just went around town and i definately noticed it sounds way more ricey in the cab than it does on the outside... are you saying that a filter would tone it down inside? cuz from what im hearing from everyone its really not all fast and furious..its just a small engine haha.

That last vid sounds kinda like a Subie. I like it.
I'll try and get a vid of the 03 2.7L Tacoma that my GF and I have. Not sure what exhaust is on it because it was on when we bought it used, but I think it sounds damn good. Sounds quiet in the cab, but on the outside its pretty loud when the truck cruises by. Nice and deep sounding, no pop, drone, or ricey sound. :)

Good luck getting it there with a 4cyl. Headers and K&N will probably make it sound better but more than likely not exactly where you want it to be...sry, i did all that to my 6cyl and im pleased with it, but it will never be a v8

Yup, that's me :D. Old video though lol

It doesn't? That's weird. I would guess cause of they header, but that's strange. I did take out the secondary air filter, not sure if it made any difference in the noise though.
