The melanistic gene is recessive so melanism is very rare in squirrels overall. However, there are relatively small pockets where they are common; typically which is urban areas.

In these small geographic areas (e.g. a city or town; not wildlands) the melanism gene is high in frequency in the local gene pool. There is anecdotal evidence that humans released a lot of these rare dark morphs into urban areas. Also that these dark morphs may have an advantage in these urban areas. Lastly, supposedly, not much gene flow between urban and wild squirrels.

So, melanistic gene is not dominant, but there are theories that the melanism may give them advantages behaviorally in urban areas, which makes them more likely to survive and breed. Combine that with not much breeding with other squirrels from the woodlands, which would reduce the frequency of that melanism gene.

What you’re seeing there is a hot mess!! I was carrying the bowls to the table and one bowl ended up upside down. I have no fucking idea how that happened:facepalm: This is why I only make cocktails in my kitchen:D
I sautéed kielbasa, peppers, onions, garlic, and mushrooms in oil and butter then added to pasta.

    Bezos rocket high. Wood recommend!
Plus, Zeppelin was my first true love in ‘74 at the impressionable age of 9.
We’re supposed to believe that a seasoned (old) man that gets hit with the dreaded deer stand shits has the intestinal fortitude to climb down, stealthily circumnavigate said buck, somehow manage not to totally shit his pants and makes it back to the blind before that buck is in the next county?
You did ask about my sisters a few times. You sure you ain’t got no gold or silver bruh?
