I have skis, but I'm out of vacation time till March, which is the only month where you might , stress might, have nice enough weather to enjoy flying. The rest of the winter it's just too cold. Short days. Pre heating. Covering and uncovering. Not fun. It's not totally Siberian here. There are some good days, but I've got a new sled to play with, and working a non-covid schedule means less time at home, more time at home away from home. Still get to fly, but job, not pleasure.

No wheels either. I have the gear, but the brake plumbing is long gone.

I hear ya. The Vermont Air Natl Guard used to fly the A-10 up here in the White Mountains. Low and slow. I don’t know if it was a direct replacement but they got the F-35 and I haven’t seen the A-10 since.

The F-35 is crazy loud and I hear them more than I see them. I’ll post pics if I can ever get some..

Was doing my night currency tonight and this was in the hanger. A 2021 model registered to the club/flight school I’m in. I’ll ask tomorrow when I can get some left seat time in it.
I think maybe someone is hiding some assets in the school.

RCMP have twelve of those Pilatus planes., including some setup for covert surveillance. I've had rides aboard the transport ones; beauty plane, single pilot capable, reasonable cost to operate, slower than jet sure, but with less fuel stops is its marketing advantage. Can land on unimproved runways in the north.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.

Is there much traffic in/out of that field these days? I grew up in North OC and was working in a shop in Westminster on Beach Blvd at the same time I was finishing studies at Cypress College. In 1984 I watched the 82nd Airborne teams arrive there in a C5 Galaxy for the '84 Olympic Security. That was f'n insanely cool to witness and a very unusual event for certain. I bailed for the Navy shortly after and haven't been back in that area since.

It’s mostly helicopter traffic on the days I’ve been around. A military citation jet and a king air took off while I was there. A LAPD helo was doing a bunch of autorotation practice there also today.

I have about 5 hours in a PC-12. I enjoyed it very much and it’s a great plane…albeit quite slow.

I’m just wondering why our school/club has one, and a 2021 model at that. Pretty sure they aren’t going to let me in it.
