Loose in what way? In and out is normal, up and down means you need the ECGS bushing. I don't do seals unless theyre leaking/seeping or I mess it up taking the axle out or putting it in

Quick update on what has turned into the rust proofing saga.

today i dropped my 4 skids and cleaned those newly exposed areas with a garden hose and sponge. Tomorrow hopefully i can acetone the frame and apply the cosmoline

Well, I got it up on the neighbors lift and it didn’t move at all. Shaft too.. All four on ground and it moves. I’m pretty sure I moved up down front to back. Will need do double check that

 

Yes , it appears loose moving vertically and horizontal

I noticed that one of my lower ball joints is shot. Do you guys that have replaced them recommend changing just the ball joint or the whole lower control arm? What’s an easier driveway repair?

 

Can you send / post their website link? I’d like to call them about price and such . I reached out to @Taco01863 about local help ,so I’ll start there. I can’t imagine the part costs more than the axle….…

If you watch the vids lower in the page i think one of them will show forward and back, and up and down movement are caused by it

 

Speaking of vibes, I noticed starting yesterday that I get a pretty nasty one at ~20mph...but only when im at a really low rpm like 1k? It only happens while I'm in traffic basically and it happens in 4wd as well. So if I do anything other than a slow sustained crawl through this range its not there, and it doesn't occur on deceleration either, possibly my bushing or something else?

Ok , thanks. Reached out to ECGS and talked to Paul and he suggested stopping fully and get into 4H and noise should go away and if not it could be something different altogether. Well, here goes

 

Did we do a carrier bearing drop in yours? If not we probably should

 

I thought the carrier drop was sort of useless unless you were over 4" of lift? The biggest issue I had with the carrier was the shit rubber crap packed around it didn't work well and caused the driveline to vibrate.

 

Really it's about drive line angles. Go out of spec and the u-joints vibe. Best way is to measure the angles but kits usually come with. Diff drop is what is usually useless imo

 

Driveway repair, definitely a full LCA is easier. The ball joints and bushings on these are replaceable, and I've rebuilt mine with ProForged ball joints and White Line poly bushings, but I needed every bit of my 12 Ton press and a lot of swearing for that job.

 

Didn't, gonna order it now. Easy enough to do on my own?

 

Diff drop is mostly to help with CV angle since it doesn't drop the driveshaft side of the diff lol
