I have a TRD OR. Didn't come with one. Picked one up for free for a highway road trip out to LA. Averaged 20.8 MPG with the thing and stock skids and no sliders.

Put on an IFS skid and my sliders back on and did a road trip up to Michigan and down to Kentucky and back. 20.4 MPG. To me that's enough (for my use and setup) to say it was negligible in mpg performance. Both had a soft topper and I wonder if that made more of a difference.

Truck feels just as planted either way. Basically it made no difference (for me) in feel or performance. So. It's off again now.

One of the reasons I bought my TRD Sport is because I mostly drive on the street. Also, because I liked the hood scoop. (Big Grin Smile)

Granted, this truck is still capable of Off-Road activity thus removal of the air dam gives it that 32 degree angle the Off-Road model has--the Sport with Air Dam angle of approach is 29 degrees.

As said, "the easiest thing you can do for aerodynamics is slam that truck down on the ground, like in NASCAR and that helps cut through the air but it really doesn't give you the capability to do anything but drive on the road."

That pretty much describes what has been said before.

    Good informational video!

^^ This. And probably about 90% of the driving I do isn't at a speed where I would get any down force at all from an air foil. I will look at my MPGs but I'm sure it will likely be a non-event as far as that is concerned.

I don’t have pizza cutters or steelies. Pic is for reference and the air dam was cut the second day I owned the truck because I didn’t like that way it looked with it completely removed and exposing some of the underside.

But if somebody likes those kinds of things on their truck I wouldn’t have a problem with it because to each his own.

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
I never have one on MY TRUCK, but yeah, totally agree with few opinions before: It doesn't look right. Looks to me like cheap POS attached to nice truck.
Reduces approach angle, practically, for sure.

Finally someone that understands aerodynamics in this thread. Hopefully the anti-airdam naysayers can learn from this.

People will have their opinions...I've learned this on forums, especially.

I'd be weary of a truck that lifts at speed!

I've taken my Taco to 90mph last weekend to pace away from tailgaters on me at 70mph on the highway.

It's good to know my air dam provides downward force to keep the wheels/tires on the road.

Actually the air dam does exactly what it's name says it does. It dams up the air in front on the truck.
A series of vehicles with air dams traveling across country from West to East can dam up the air to the East and cause a vacuum in the West. This condition is hazardous to your health as it makes the air thick and hard to breath in the East and the vacuum in the West pulls in hazardous weather which causes wildfires, mudslides, and moves the platelets of the earth causing earthquakes.
I have taken on the responsibility of correcting this with a foundation I have started which will be called the "Damned Air Distribution" foundation. Contributions are now being accepted. With your daily donation of only $29.95, we will send you a 1" drill bit to drill relief hols in your air dam and a "I saved some damned air" bumper sticker. The drill bit can double its' purpose by drilling holes in your fender flares so your truck will finally look cool.

No can do. Not putting it back on and took it off when I installed the skid plate. I'll see what I can do - might be able to zip tie it back in place for a picture once I put my skid plate back on too.

No difference in highway stability on my 2021 Tacoma SR5 DCSB 4X4. No drop in fuel economy either.

Never noticed any changes in stability or mpg after taking mine off. I've driven a few other Tacoma's in our work fleet and can't tell a difference.
