We have a 2021 TRD Pro that has been really noisy at highway speeds. For the past two days I have been "soundproofing" the rear wall of the cabin by removing everything (seats, storage bin, rear panels, etc.) and putting down some Dynamat and foam to reduce the noise. Lots of work, but I was convinced this would help quiet the cab somewhat. FAIL! Seems the noise is coming mostly from the rear passenger door which doesn't seem to close properly along the lower 1/3 of the door (the factory weatherstrip was covered in dirt & mud--so it was not making contact with the door jam at all) I then tried to add a foam strip behind the factory weatherstrip in that area. Another FAIL. So I'm going to try the foam strip just like Will'sSR5 has done. Bought the same stuff, but Amazon won't deliver it for more than a week. Yeah, I could take it back to the dealer, but I have no faith in my dealer's service dept. They keep messing stuff up. Wish me luck, as I sure need it.

A lot of GM vehicles actually do 3, purely for noise

I think my back doors are not tight enough against the weatherstripping when closed. I can hear rattling and wind noise.

Yep, in addition to the wind noise, my Pro has lots of road/tire noise AND exhaust noise (with the TRD exhaust) from the area of the back doors. I'm not pleased. My neighbor's brand new 2021 OR is almost totally quiet inside compared to mine. Grrrr....

Received and installed the weatherstripping this afternoon. It made a noticeable difference, but I can still hear the tires and exhaust. Altogether I feel that the noise level has been reduced, so it wasn't for nothing.

Reducing 3db would be … the sound/noise is down by half. Down by 15db is very hard to believe. How was the result measured?

Did this on my access cab today. It absolutely makes a noticeable difference. Didn’t do the bottom of the doors, but might later.

Nice was going to do it on my AC especially i can tell some wind noise where the 2 doors meet. What brand and where did you get it from. Definitely post if you do the bottom of the doors and if it makes a difference.

It’s actually the gasket that came with my Lomax cover. They sent a lot of extra, but it looks similar to the links earlier in the thread. I’ll post if I do the bottom. It’s a bit harder to close the front doors, but I think it will get easier as the seal compresses for a bit.

I completed this today on my double cab, I can definitely tell a difference, so worth it for minimal cost and effort. The doors do close just a little harder but I'm sure that will get better as the weather stripping compresses over time.

Awesome. I get wind coming through the top of my driver side door when I'm on roadtrips. Hopefully this will help with that!!!

Did you use the same product that the OP used, or did you use the product recommended in post #35?

Put the bottom pieces on today. It made a noticeable difference, but not as much as the upper pieces. My friend rides in my truck a lot and noticed it was quieter without me mentioning I had added the strips. I put it down lower than I think some might, but I didn’t want to add anymore resistance to the door shutting.

Nice I did the tops of the doors similar to you but left the bottom off figured with foot traffic the seal would get damaged quickly

With the extra gasket across the bottom, will there be an issue with the door draining from water inside the door when it rains? I wouldn't want water pooling up at the bottom and rusting the bottom of the door.

I was just thinking about that on my way into work as I was enjoying the new peace and quiet. I promptly removed the lower gasket because the drain holes do land on it. I don't think there is a way to install it on the lower area without causing this drain issue AND if you install it higher to where it hits the existing strip, the door will likely not shut very easily.

I have been troubled by the road noise for a very long time. I have contemplated spending thousands of dollars to improve the noise in the cab. When I saw this I ordered the weather striping in the link and installed it yesterday. my results were very good. There is no wind noise, only tire and engine noise at a reduced level. The truck should have come this way. I will continue to peruse the quiet cab and probably spend an gross amount of money to dampen the road noise in the end. I do have full length aluminum skid plates and I think that they some how contribute to the road noise as well as the tires. This mod is without a doubt the #1 thing this old man would recommend.
