Spot on. Spending "top dollar" on every accessory and piece of equipment under the is just spending money to spend money. More expensive doesn't mean "better." Sure there are areas you shouldn't go with the budget option on tour truck but there are many others where you can.

The roof rack cases are indeed a great example of the wide range in price for extra storage. The Roam cases are nice, they're durable, spacious, and look really cool. I considered them when I was first shopping around but quickly moved on once I realized there were much more affordable options that suit my needs. I eventually settled on Apache cases from Harbor Freight. They're very rugged, water tight, and theyre able to be securely locked. During a sale I was able to pick up two cases for a little over half of what a single comparable Roam case costs. This isn't knocking anyone who has expensive cases, but for my needs I couldn't justify it.

As with any modification an individual really has to identify what's important functionally and aestheticly to them and what suits their needs and work their build to fit those wants & needs. At the end of the day it's the builder's cash and if they want to spend $500 for a case to fill with another $500 worth of stuff they may never need or use, that's their choice.

This. I'm an old fart and from the days it was actually called camping. Fished and hunted with my Dad and we always "left something at home" that always seemed to be detrimental to our trip. This stage in my life and where I travel this is a no-go for me. I have a purpose built truck with "stuff" that I really need when camping and exploring.

    A bunch of junk
I always like to do little trips and along the way I'd think of something that added use to my trip. Don't be afraid to buy second hand. I have for lots of my items. On the other hand, buy cheap by twice.

Earlier in the thread someone asked why I'd added a snorkel... it's mostly for those real dusty fsr but also cause I can.

The S&B CAI uses the original intake location, but replaces the rubber bell. It also has a secondary rubber intake location that pulls from the front grill area. No cut or additional holes.

Absolutely. Don't ever let anyone question "why" you would do something a certain way for your truck.

Further, practicality as well as aesthetics are per the individuals view. If everyone found the exact same things aesthetically appealing and used their trucks the exact same way, they're be a million carbon copy Tacoma's out there.

It's your truck and your money. Give it the looks you like and build it to suit your needs. Who gives a shit what "Joe Bob TRD Offroad" or "Chad Mallcrawler Bro" have to say about your build.

I’m really happy I added these because once the camper shell was added, the third brake light/bed lights became useless.

I did some redneck bodywork to my 2021 to get me by until it goes in the shop on the 30th. Couple zip ties and some pushing and pulling.IMG_0090.jpg I hit a deer.

Recently sold my 2016 and bought a new TRD OR in green. Wanted to quickly add Icon stage 2, method wheels, General's, Smartcap EVOa and built a bed deck for pups. (Also held onto the 2016 tail lights because I'm not much of a fan of the euro style lights coming on the new ones)

let me know what you come up with. I have a mini American shepherd coming in December and I too was looking at a half rack or something to hold that and my other dog without using a topper.
