I recently sold my 2016 and bought a new Tacoma. However, I kept my Rhino Rack load bars from old topper and want to install them on my new RSI Smartcap. Problem is, I can't find a video or any information on the install or if the Rhino Rack fit kit will even work. Any help or point in the right direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It does, but wrong size nut that come stock in the RSI track. That size bolt won't fit through Rhino Rack platform and mount to stock RSI nut. Is there a way to open the track itself? If I can open the track up, I can slide in the Rhino Rack t nut in and all would be well. Thanks for the reply.

I would not enlarge the track, there are many sizes of t-nuts. worst case you have to drill the feet of the Rhino Rack to fit a larger bolt. I would do this 100 times before trying to modify the rail.

    This......

Standard M8 bolt fits in the track so you can use those as well.

I had the same thing happen!! Crushed the plastic top cap on the bed of the truck. I’ll post pics when I get a chance. Used the exact torque specs for the topper.

Thanks very much, definitely don’t want to enlarge the track at all. I wasn’t very clear there, I guess. Just stopped over at local shop and got the right sized nuts, just going to need to drill the rhino rack a little bit. Appreciate it.

I had the same issue with the six fasteners connecting the topper to the bed. When following the precise torque specs I heard a popping sound and saw that the rails on the bed of the pickup were now bowed and bent. Not sure what to do from here.

FWIW the rivets that secure the hinges on the folding table appear to be pretty shitty. I’ve had my table for about six months but haven’t actually really used it that much and I’m already going to have to replace the hinges. I’ve only actually used it a hand full of times and wasn’t hard on it by any means. It’s been used for cooking, folding laundry and shooting, at no point has it ever had more than maybe fifty lbs on top and it hasn’t been exposed to any serious torsional forces (that I’m aware of). The rest of the table appears very well built, light but very sturdy, however, the rivets/hinges appear to be a serious weak point.

This and graphite lube really improve them, but yes the locks are definitely the major issue with this cap!

This is the plastic top rail that’s crushed. They just pop off so you could always replace them super easy if you wanted.

Maybe that’s where you supposed to put the mystery rubber pieces?

I did have them there I popped the top rail off and the metal underneath doesn’t extend to the edge. Hence the buckled plastic I think.

I had 2 of the mystery rubber squares rolling around my bed for the past couple months….. just today realized that the other 4 are under 4 of the 6 clamps (shop installed).

Mine was shop installed as well. I remember hearing a few alarming pops while I was busy talking to some guy with a tundra.
