I'm in the same boat, no added weight and 111R springs in the back. Went with the basic front and rear shocks and there's defnitely been moments where I cringe hitting a bump or pothole...I'm just not sure if it's a problem worth $2,000 to fix o_O It would seem to make more financial sense to buy weight to soften it up like bumpers/armor, but that's not something I can see myself needing in the near future. Have you done the fronts yet?

Well with the 111's and no weight in the bed, you're in an even worse position as I think those are very much intended for constant weight on the truck.

I have not done the fronts because I'm pretty fine with how the truck behaves now and I'm struggling to decide if it's worth investing anymore money into it when I might be swapping to something different in the next two years (I shouldn't, but I kind of want to...)

My thought is that if I ever do decide to do the fronts, I may just get some custom leaf springs made that are closer to stock ride height and then set the fronts to close to stock ride height. I have no need for the lift, there's just not really any simple high quality, off-the-shelf, no-lift suspension setups for trucks in general.

I really do like the spring rate of the 110R's when I'm towing or have a load of concrete or other heavy crap to take to the dump, but of course 99.9% of the time, I'm not doing that sort of thing.

    All compromises!

You know the laws of Tacomaworld .... Can't tell us you're thinking about trading without telling us what you're thinking about getting into (hopefully it's something with Dobsinsons suspension offerings) :D

Ha! Well first pick would be the new Tundra, but I struggle with the idea of spending more than $50k on a vehicle of any kind. But having a land barge with plenty of room to stretch out with a properly sized engine for towing would make long trips with the travel trailer much less exhausting both physically and mentally.

So maybe a used <2021 Tundra when used prices hopefully settle the hell down.

Or maybe when the next gen Tacoma starts leaking specs we'll get surprised with a PHEV version on the TNGA platform meaning at least rear discs and rear coil springs which would be a great all around vehicle for my purposes being mostly commuting with two weekends a month towing.

With the market as bonkers as it is right now, I certainly won't be making any vehicle purchases anytime soon and there's going to be lots of developments between Toyota, GM, and Ford with midsize and full size trucks between now and 2024, so it'll be interesting to see.

If I was smart, I'd just suffer with the less-than-ideal towing abilities of the Tacoma and pay it off and keep it forever. But I'm not very good at keeping vehicles long term...

You and me both have that struggle but I told myself this one would be a contender for a million mile truck. So we'll see.

@Crikeymike So the C59-314 springs would still be ok with the added weight and just adjusting the MRA's to get the height back? What is the max spring seat height before coil bind at full compression would become an issue?

Usually no more than 1" of added lift is recommended on the IMS and MRA's. 226mm on those is 3" with stock weight, and I wouldn't suggest anything more than 230mm.

    Just miles
came in here with this question, who would have thought it was answered yesterday lol. I have a camper shell, so that might be enough of the constant load for the 110s. I don’t often have much more than a surfboard, bike, and cooler or combo of. 110s might be my jam.

Suspension is on, fellas. Getting tires in 3 hours and then an alignment right after. Will post pics and a write up tonight! Spoiler alert: we finished everything, dropped it to the ground, torqued everything…. then noticed the rear leaf bolts were in backwards and rubbing. For a moment during the leaf reinstall, we felt like an F1 team, nothing but speed on that second time around.

Haven’t driven around yet besides my neighborhood last night around 2am when we finished, but it actually felt really good! Even with the big coils and stock front weight.

I’ll post the link to my write up this evening, maybe tomorrow morning at latest if work is too crazy.

These skinny’s are… skinny. I think with some spacers in the meantime before I get wheels it’ll help the stance look a bit. Just got it aligned at a Brakes Plus right by my house.

    Front:
Left camber 0.3, right camber 0.1
Left caster 4.5, right caster 4.3
Left toe 0.06, right toe 0.06

He said they can’t adjust caster because of lift kit? Not sure about that, might take it in to a shop in Denver or Boulder to get it right…

Lot of shops say that, they don't like messing with adjustable UCAs (or LCAs for that matter)

I can recommend Lakewood Alignment. The guy there is happy to adjust to your liking and is familiar with most uca’s. I was in and out in about 40 minutes start to finish.

Very typical of an alignment tech to say that.

Steps for high-caster alignment in Toyotas.

    1. Move the rearward cams all the way outward.
    2. Move the front cams all the way inward. This brings maximum caster as a starting point.
    3. Set toe and caster. This will remove some caster as it's adjusted and set, but will keep it as high as it can get.

It also makes the left and right start at the same point. I've had crappy alignments before where left will be further forward than a right, or vice versa.

Just got back from the dealer for my Toyota Care service, and they rotated the tires. What do you think is going on here? Truck drives fine, just a little choppy feeling from rotating the tires :notsure:

These look mega skinny. Yokohama Geolandars G003, 255/85/16 on stock 2020 TRD OR wheels. Might go 285s. Might try spacers first.
