Plus you get even more troubles fitting outboard haha. I can see doing what you showed though, be a bit harder with a ford mount but possible. I don't like the space constraint. I'd cut out the hanging portion of the wheel well and do what @Wulf said, bring in the frame a bit to make room for the shock

 

When the 4R goes under the knife, I'll need to remember to go back to this conversation.

My biggest concern were the coils I'd need to use for that sort of droop...but alas we'll figure that out later.

 

If I were you I'd ditch the fast 4x4 idea and just commit to a desert prerunner with long travel.

I can't wait to do aluminum.

The guys doing stainless steel right now are telling me how damn hard it is. It's not as forgiving as carbon steel when it comes to your heat settings.
