Has anyone here used both this unit and a Joying unit? Would be interested to know thoughts on one interface vs other.

I would actually love a unit that is between the size of those two. Prefer physical AC controls but would love to gain the screen real estate of the clock/hazard which is just unnecessary.

So I emailed tech support inquiring about those apps at the top of the screen and this was thei response…

    Hello Randy
The program interface at the top of the screen is fixed and cannot be modified. Nova launcher is installed in our unit, which can customize your interface. Maybe this is useful to you

You can load sergeys custom firmware on the unit to hide the top and bottom bars. You also get more features and themes. I loaded it on the test unit and it looks pretty cool. The only downside is its and extra $100

That sounds promising, so how does it work after you load it, do you need to reconfigure things or does it do that on its own ?

I would say it’s more like an update that unlocks everything.

There are a few steps you need to do and send an mcu.bin file to Sergey. This is only for the initial install. All updates are over the air after that. He does update his software very often adding more features.

Ok so I finally managed to get the new firmware loaded after some trial and error. Anyone out there attempting this at a later date with a mac make sure to go into your safari settings and uncheck the box under the general tab at the bottom to automatically unzip files. Evidently the unit won’t upload unzipped files. Anyways seems to be lots a cool updates and features, will just take some time to watch some posted video and figure out whats does what.

So thought I would throw in a few pics for carplay after the firmware update and you can see theres still a gap at top and bottom with both those bars hidden2630E2A8-67E6-4A59-B83C-E907057A470C.jpg39E78A79-E9A3-420B-A7A3-D443F6566A43.jpg D4D9586D-FD24-4B68-9C93-83D392DFDB6F.jpg

Can you split screen carplay. I know that was one of the features.

I’m slightly interested in this unit as it looks awesome and I like the size. + the plug n play aspect compared to some of the other 10” seicane ones is nice.
One question I have, is the unit able to run most third party apps, or can they be downloaded somehow?
I’m specifically interested in offroad GPS apps like onX Offroad as well as some OBD2 monitoring apps.
I’m not sure if onX supports Apple carplay as I still have a old pioneer unit.

I was going to take a pic for you but evidentially changed that setting back....theres a setting to force apps that normally don't split in either general or advanced settings and the passcode for advanced is 8861

Can you leave the climate control ui on the bottom and blackout the top when in carplay mode?
