Technically I’m a resident of NC since I have changed my address to NC and have to comply with state laws by getting my license and other things changed in 60 days and CCW is null and void at that time…plus I have changed my address on all my NFA items….

Hmmmmm that's a new one to me. From my understanding as well as talking to some sheriff's your out of state can still be used while you are applying for a NC or until the expiration date so long as that state NC recognizes. What's the G.S. that says otherwise?

Nah NC is good I've been approached by cops carrying open due to a call. They came up said hi then left and went and told the Karen the legality of handgun carrying in NC. Now local jurisdictions can make ordinances and stuff against such in certain public areas such as sidewalks but that's another gray area because some of those have been struck down by the state SC.

It took me four months to get an appointment for my CC. Then I think it was a month to get it back. Rowan county though. I was told mecklenburg was the worst.

I was lucky enough to get mine in Cabarrus many years ago. Quick, easy, painless. I just moved in to Mecklenburg and will have to get my next renewal here. YAY.

Can you not go in and them just do a background check? I'm not in NC, but I'd be very surprised to learn that you can't just go in and purchase. In GA, FL and TX, you fill out a form and wait like 15 minutes while they do a background check. The advantage to having the CC permit is that you don't have to get the background check, which saves you 15 minutes.

As for your comment about reciprocity, you're also good according to this website: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/nc-gun-laws/#recRestricted

You're good to carry based on having VA and UT licenses. The FL permit is only reciprocated for residents of FL. I'm sure they will only allow you to purchase a firearm without a background check with an NC license. Not having a license won't prevent you from making a purchase, it just adds the step of the background check.

What I need to look into now is whether my TX license is valid. It says that it is (in GA) with restrictions, but isn't very clear on what those restrictions are....it seems the laws for carrying have changed since I was a resident.

You can buy a long gun here without a purchase permit or without a CCW but with a background check, but to buy a pistol you need a pistol purchase permit or a CCW permit.

Ohio you need the background check regardless of if you have a CCW permit or not.

What's involved in getting a pistol purchase permit?

Couple forms on the county website, a couple dollars fee, then having a form notarized and sent back in. Then a several month wait.

    Or week depending on county.
They literally do the exact same background check as gun stores do just via the sheriff's office and charge you money. It's pretty silly.

    ...also stupid...

What if someone in NC wants to buy an NFA item? Do you have the several month wait before you can start the several month wait? Not trying to be an ass here, genuinely curious.

No you go in fill out the forms and do all the fed BS at the gun store (if it's a good one they'll create a trust for you) pay for said item and then wait on the fed. to release your item so like 12 months now
