It only took me like 10 minutes to do mine. Way faster, easier and cleaner with the gun for air compressor vs rattle cans

Just depends how thorough you are and if you have a way to lift the vehicle or not. Took me about 2 hours or so last year, including as much inside the frame as I could and lowering the spare. 4.5 rattle cans and no lift, plus a very tight garage at my apartment.

Same scenario, tight garage, also completely covered the truck with old blankets and plastic, whatever I could find, didn’t want greasy overspray…and removed the wheels. Wrapped the exhaust in plastic. Took about 3 hours. Maybe next time, need to get a spray gun.. overall happy with the outcome. Definitely a learning experience.

New member and new Tacoma owner. Colorado transplant in the Canton area. Looking for good shop suggestions for a lift install next spring, and then looking to do some exploring! Any help appreciated!

Some of these clowns might show up in your driveway and do the lift install while you stand there and drink a beer

Welcome! What's your truck and what lift are you getting?

    Thanks!

Well - I wouldn’t complain since I’m not very mechanically inclined nor have the tools to do a lift. I can drink beer and smoke some ribs for the gang though!

    I picked up a ‘22 SW SR5 last week. I’m obsessed now….

Open to lift suggestions. Been doing a lot of reading and still don’t know what’s best for a lift and wheel/tire combo. I had a TJ with a 4” lift and 33’s for 12 years, so I’m leaning toward something similar-ish. The truck is my daily driver and turkey hunting rig. Won’t be doing nursing extreme or over-landing.

Tacos respond extremely well to 2 inch lifts. Anything higher than 2.5-3 starts getting wonky (and expensive)

That being said, there are plenty of great comprehensive kits out there, from Old Man Emu (what I'm running, bona fide Australian do or die outback rated tough suspension), Eibach (the ultimate in adjustability and ride comfort), Dobinsons (@Crikeymike has all the options), @Toytec Lifts have great offerings as well, their alumna series are top notch.

As far as tires go, the stock tires aren't the worst, but a solid set of 32inch All Terrains, Falken Wildpeaks or Toyo Open Countries will fit a stock truck and make it feel night and day more capable.

And your stretch of US23 is just shitty. I would not want run that stretch in highly lifted truck at rush hour. You are often blocking traffic at 90.

2" lift is the number you are wanting to stay under.

Waterford/West Bloomfield here. Just dropping a line in here in case anyone is in need of assistance or has a urgent job/repair that requires a place to do it and someone with tools. Not trying to offer my garage and tools up for grabs or anything, but here for those in need. Garage is heated, too.

I’m just a bit east of you in the Rochester area... I wonder if our tacos have ever crossed paths? :spy:

Maybe. I'm not over in that area often. Occasionally I'm near stoney Creek and Macomb.

Near Berkley area myself. Picked up a 21 DC OR several weeks ago as my first ever truck. If anyone has recommendations on shops I'm all ears. I try to do most work myself, but I'm sure I'll need one at some point.

Just and FYI, Michigan loves to use road salt in the winter. You'll want to get something on that frame before the snow starts to fly, which could basically be any day now actually. I see a lot of guys here who swear by fluid film or woolwax. I can't speak to either of them myself as this will be my first winter w my taco as well.

I used to live in Chesterfield Twp. I worked for the owner of WearMaster Muffler and Brake in Utica, Royal Oak, and the one I managed was in Madison Heights. They do good work, could do custom exhaust work, and offer full service at Royal Oak and Utica. (No fluid changes at Madiason Hts, permit issues and such). Owner is a stand up guy, so this may be an option for you as well.

Just put Woolwax on last week. Snow started accumulating last night (although will probably melt). Salt was out this morning.
