I wouldn’t say it sucks per se .. just takes a little digging to find what your looking for. I will say this, a plated/legal dual sport/enduro can be fun up in the park system. There is still some two track that I’ve been on out there that will fit a truck/jeep, but for the life of me cannot remember where the hell they were (no carried GPS on those runs, dammit to hell). I kinda have it in my head last few months to go and try to re-find them come this spring.

True, street legal stuff does open you up to the parks and lot more exploring options. I was probably a little harsh with sucks. I really just need to get my own abandon horse farm lol

Nah, not harsh. Just somewhat true.

Total agreement on the abandoned statement. Would be hella fun.

Hey! Im in NOVA, picked up my Tacoma in June. Super dump question, I have never used 4x4 before. I was wondering if there was a good place to start, was thinking fire roads or something easy. Any tips in the area are appreciated.
Loving my Tacoma so far, its been my first truck.

Green ridge state forest or george washington natioal forest have plenty of dirt roads to cruise around on and see the leaves changing. You won't necessarily *need* 4wd but it's a safe place to play around with it and get familiar with the truck and how to operate it. Peters mill run is another safe place.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Next time you're at Chris's, bury it in the mud pit. Keep it dirty for a while. People won't question it. People did that with me, so I drove it to work filthy dirty and parked where everyone who questioned me had to drive by it. Now they don't ask.

Haha. Ive been lurking on that one for about 6 months...
I ended up adding LED bed lights, the bed mate, and the glovebox/ center console items.

Next up will be either a cap or bed cover. Right now my camp gear fits in great in a few Rubbermaid.

Im in Arlington. Been loving showing off to friends in the city that, yes I can parallel park it.

Anyone in the Arlington or NOVA area interested in a set of 2019 TRD Pro wheels? I am looking to sell my set along with a new spare tire.

So in total 4 x TRD Pro Wheels and Tires, and 1 x Spare Tire.

The tires are the stock Goodyear Adventurer Wrangler AT with Kevlar 265/70r16.

    Looking for $1300 OBO. Thanks!

Is this something a stock rig can do? I also have road tires on.

I did it stock three years ago, but conditions have changed a bit. You'll need a spotter and may have to stack some rocks on an obstacle with no bypass. I'd check with the group going out and get thier opinion. You could probably get there via Switzer Lake. Peter's Mill Run should be good for stock. But find someone to run with just in case you run into trouble.

Only because I didn’t know when I first started off-roading, FPK = Flag Pole Knob.

I’d air down, remove any steps before you go (if you have them) and be okay with tapping your skids (if you have them). It’ll be busy so if you get stuck I doubt you’ll be there for to long. There’s also a ton of YouTube videos of guys doing it, if really wanna see it before you do it.

I think I'm gonna pass. Unfortunately I have steps on the truck but I can't really take them off because of the wife and kid. One day I'll get some sliders on there.

Those come off pretty easy. 6 bolts per side, 15 minutes without power tools. I pulled mine frequently until the sliders went on.

There are 3 different ways to get to FPK. Easy, medium and the fun hard way. Do not let the easy/medium deter you from getting up on the hill.

Easy way Is Briery Branch rd. (Hard ball road). Turn right at the top (gravel/dirt rd.) and run it over to FPK.

The medium way should still be doable in a stock truck. That route is off route 33 at Switzer lake and up to Dunkle hollow (name change), turn right and then go a couple hundo yards.

The fun hard way is getting chewed up more and more every day. But can be a good time with a few other trucks for possible recovery issues.

Again.. not to talk you into or out of. Just get out there and enjoy Natures finest.

I’ll be there. Tiffany will either be riding shotgun or bringing her ride with another friend. At least +1 taco at most +1 taco +2 wranglers.
