Well, for what it is worth, I did feel like you were a bit harsher on me when I first got here than I'd expect for someone disagreeing with me. However your explanation (and probably the way I came across at that time) makes a lot of sense. I don't take it personally though. I just hope I haven't caused you to feel disrespected in any way (not counting not liking your driver :p). Obviously we disagree on things but that's ok. We're both people who like to defend our views to the end, it seems.

He can probably sell his Lambo to get along for a couple of months. I heard Ford was picking up the Raptor they gave him. No official source on that
Dale Jr was surprisingly harsh on the Dale Jr. Download saying it's probably the only win Hemrick will get in his career.

As Hemricks wife said, no one can ever give him a hard time about not being a winner any longer. Time will tell if he wins again. All we know is he is a damn good driver, a winner and a Champion. That can never be taken away.

What was your favorite race of the season? It doesn't have to be the best race, just your favorite.

Hard to beat Talladega on any given year. This year didn't disappoint either.

Personally I don't like that or Daytona because it feels like a lottery. But it definitely produces exciting racing...at least on the last lap.

I'm also starting to grow fond of the ROVAL.

Last 30 at Dega are nail biters for sure!

Never been a fan of the Roval but I do like the Daytona road course, which is basically the same thing but bigger. Not sure why I feel that way.

I think my favorite race was COTA. It was such a shit show and I enjoyed it all, minus them calling it so "soon."

Apparently Dodge is rumored to return but this time NASCAR wouldn't confirm or deny it.

And everyone knows Tony Stewart doesn't give a fuck. He wanted to sign Larson but Ford wouldn't let him. He said that a while ago but this is the first I heard it. I thought for sure he would have signed him before Hendrick, but I suppose Stewart has a little less pull at Ford than Hendrick does at Chevrolet.

Dale Jr. has no room to talk. He was no record breaking driver. The only reason he was followed by so many was his father.

Though you are correct that Jr did inherit many fans from his father and due to his name. He did in fact earn much of them when he completely dominated the Busch series during the 98/99 seasons winning 13 races. You must not have been around then. Do not let the latter years of his career fool you. The first 6-8 years of his career were quite strong. Some would argue that though he benefited from his name and his father, Dale Sr death actually ruined his career from a success standpoint.

Jr has 24 wins in that series with 70 top 5 finishes in only 143 starts. He also won the championship in the only two years he ran that series full time. That is a pretty strong showing.

Through 54 starts Hemric has only the one win though he does have 20 top 5’s. Also worth noting that the competition in the late 90’s was much stronger than it is today with many stronger teams than the few powerhouses we see today and a lot of cup drivers on the track every weekend.

Also worth noting that Hemric drove for JRM last year where he did not find much success. Also worth noting that he did manage to win the title but did not do so in dominating fashion and had 1 win in a car that typically sees victory lane 5-8 times per season.

To add to this: Terry Labonte was voted into the hall of fame in the first year it opened. He has 22 wins and 2 championships in cup, 11 in Xfinity (Busch), and 1 in the trucks.

Dale Jr's career overlapped with Labonte. Jr had 26 wins in cup and 22 Xfinity (Busch) wins despite a cup career that was also 18 years shorter than Labonte's.

It got low marks on TV and the twitter poll but I really enjoyed Atlanta in March. The weather was perfect, track looked great, seating was spread out, ran into a good buddy and former co-worker, had lunch with Drew Dollar and Jordan Anderson in the condo, saw Kurt Busch crashed in front of us, and we got to see Blaney win. It probably wasn't great to watch on TV but in person it was about as ideal a race experience as could be.

The teams are starting to get a handle on how to set up cars for the Roval leading to fewer accidental runoffs and massive wheel hops on the kerbs. As they refine the setups, the racing is less goofy and more regular. Even still, it is wild to see a car wheel hopping while taking a hard right to the outside wall all while doing a slide job on a rival. It's good, fun racing. THis was our third year attending and my kid said: "Dad I have to admit, that was one hell of a race!"

My fav race of the year was Pocono #2 when 18 came from behind with a bum tranny to win. Still don't know quite how he won that one.

On to next year - should be interesting

Initially, I'd agree. I intentionally didn't pull for him at the start because I didn't want to be lumped in with the bandwagon fans but he grew on me. I liked his character, his (sometimes brutal) honesty, and what really did it for me was watching him have the fastest car at Atlanta in '07, have some issues, drive back through the field absolutely rim-riding it through the turns, but then lose a wheel and obliterate the wall. It was incredible to see a driver have an issue and then just set his sights on the leader and slice & dice his way back up there and then see it all go away so fast.
