Access Cab Roof Rack Hole Spacing

    Hello,

    I am trying to begin planning assembly of my own DIY version of an aluminum roof rack, such as those sold by Prinsu. I want to make it all out of aluminum, with extruded t-slot bars for support and angled aluminum at the sides for structural rigidity.

    I've found plenty of helpful information online from others who have made their own racks, but something I am lacking are the dimensions of the hole spacing for an access cab 2nd gen Tacoma.

    If anyone has these dimensions handy, before I remove my own trim and check, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks

    Wouldn’t the holes that you are looking for a diameter for be under your weatherstripping

    Yes, exactly, those are the holes I am referring to.

    I'm not ready to start drafting up a roof rack just yet, but I was sort of curious if anyone had rough spacing dimensions handy, as I begin my planning.

    I would plan to either remove sections of the black plastic/rubber roof rail, or drill holes in it for the spacers & bolts I plan to use.

    access cabs don't have the roof rack holes like the double cab, you have to drill them yourself

    yeah it sucks, unless it was different for 2nd gen but I'm 99% sure that there aren't holes there. Definitely not on my 3rd gen, I want a prinsu rack on the cab to match the one on my topper but it feels like a lot of effort to drill all the holes lol

    Drill and install nutserts/rivnuts. Rhinorack makes/made a channel (like a Yakima/Thule track) that was designed to fit the access-cab but I haven't seen it in stock in a long time.


    ETA- Took some searching through my bookmarks but the Rhino Rack HiLux track set RTS03 is supposed to fit the Tacomas. It appears to be out of stock everywhere I looked and I can't find the youtube video at the moment but I remember watching a video of one of the "overlanding" places installing them on an AccessCab.

    This may be a blessing in disguise, you can put mounting holes wherever you'd like. I'd aim for some roof braces and hit them with some quality SS nutserts.

    Very true. I do like that I can now create attachment points as I see fit.
