I originally posted this in the Colorado forum. I have a 2015 Gen2 Tacoma double cab. About three years ago I added the AMP Research Powersteps. These are the side steps that move in/out as you open/close the door. Like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liuWBgQfccM

I'm selling the truck and new owner does not want the Powersteps. I think Powersteps are a bit harder to find now for Gen2. This is the link to AMP research, they are out of stock:

    https://www.amp-research.com/produc...-running-board-05-15-toyota-tacoma-double-cab

But here's the deal, these are not trivial to install. So I had them installed by a shop, meaning I don't really know how to uninstall them cleanly. I am hoping to find someone who is handy and would install these themselves, and they would uninstall them from my truck.

The price at AMP is $1,700. If you can take them off my truck (you do the manual labor), then I'd sell them to you for $600. Then of course you install on your truck.

Install is normally estimated at 3-4 hours, and I do believe for Gen2 you have to do some drilling. So I'd guess uninstall would be at least 2 hours? I think you would need to watch a few videos and find some manuals (I have none) to see what you are getting into.

The Powersteps work perfect, have little hidden lights on the step. They are very cool looking, work great, my wife loves them.

I live in FtCollins, CO. I'd be willing to drive pretty far (easily to Denver) and I could hang out or go grab lunch or whatever for a few hours, while you remove the steps.

If you've been thinking about Powersteps but were put off by price or availability, here is your chance.

Here is a video of them on the truck.

Any potential buyers....$600 is a steal for these. The powersteps are pretty well designed as its basically 4x foldable hinges, 2 high torque motors, 4x leds lights, 2x running boards, and the wiring "brain" and harness.

The electric/wiring part is easy. There's a main module which needs +12v and ground. The remaining wires are ran for the 4x led lights that mount along the floorboard and to the motors on each side. And the trigger wire which I think is in the driver kick panel. You tap into the wire that signals when the door is open (dome light trigger?). The proprietary brain modules does all the magic. If you can replace a headunit and/or install an amp.. you can do this DIY.

The instructions are great. Follow it to the Tee and you shouldn't have problems. Its more like a 3-5hr install job if its your first time. Shimming the boards so they fit just right takes a while if you are detail oriented.

    GLWS

Full disclosure: if you couldnt tell....i own and installed a set of these on my truck. :) one of the best mods so far.

2nded! I think most of us with road trucks that don't have them would like to. This is exactly a mod I would like to add, they are both attractive and functional. And the cool factor is off the charts. Either the guy buying your truck is going off-road with sliders etc. or he's not realizing what he is going up.

I know, I know. I want to get the steps off and shot the movie without thinking. But in a few weeks I'll have a sparkly clean Gen3. Woot!

I've literally had people come up to me in a parking lot and ask me to open/close my door for them.

For anyone following this thread: I'm having the powersteps removed in a few days. So you pick up or I'll deliver. You don't have to figure out how to uninstall.

GLWS! Had these on my truck when I bought them. They were cool but didn't fit my needs and uses

This is a steal for them and about the same price I sold mine for

Yeah that's why I originally posted in the Colorado thread. They are removed from the truck if anyone wants them.
