Welcome aboard. Check out the LCE header for a few more hp and tq. URD SC is another good option. The 2TR is very responsive to a little boost.

A 4 banger Tacoma with automatic transmission is not going to get you anywhere in a hurry, maybe you could look into steeper gears.

I'm a 2.7 owner and I really think Toyota should let the buyers know they are purchasing a right lane cruiser. As someone else on the forum as said, the 2.7 has a very similar power to weight ratio as the old 1990s 22re pickups. I think it's great, but I know a lot of people might be looking for something faster.

Just a word of advice, double click the ECM button and the truck will rev higher. It's really essential if you have to merge into highway traffic from a short distance. I do think the automatic does let the truck down quite a bit, but that's how they sell them :-/

The 4 Four-cylinder is a great engine I think it has plenty of power for 1 to 2 people. I just bought my second 2.7 access cab four-wheel-drive and to me it’s perfect for in town or cruising along the highway at 7580 if I had to. I think a lot of people really overthink it. If you don’t like it maybe you can sell it as the Market is hot right now.. and get a v6 or v8 ..
But I think the 2.7 as a better built engine over the 3.5 V6

Either learn to live with it or trade it on a V6 IMO. Boost is probably the only true solution and at that point I think you're better off putting that money towards a 6 cylinder.

My first Access cab and I will not trade it for the world or a double cab. I like the simplicity In my base model truck and I like having a 6 foot bed.

Yes, trying to migrate to a 6-cyl after the market cools down might be your best bet. Keep in mind, the 2.7 is a dead reliable engine -- Toyota puts it in their JDM vans and stuff.

Toyota should bring back the 5 spd manual.

it really makes a difference with the 4 banger.

Not known for racing - for that matter the V6 isn't either - but that truck of yours will run for 150 years.

I vote for keeping it. Especially
not bad in this market for a vehicle that will hold that value for a long long time.

Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.
The cheapest/quickets mod would be to put 245/75r16 tires back on it... if someone has put bigger/heavier tires on.

    What about a tuning chips?
I see a lot of reviews and can not make decision: is it good or bad to put on? Especially if your truck has 4 years Toyotas warranty?
