There is some new firmware that allows something like what I am asking for. I really want to keep the climate control at the bottom, the clock and brightness control at the top.

The firmware I just downloaded from what I can see you can have either top or bottom there or not but when the top isn’t there neither is the clock or brightness control as that is part of the top bar…..all it takes to get it back is a quick swipe down with your finger and a few seconds later it goes away again

I haven’t had it very long at all but everything has been working really good both before and after the firmware update. The touchscreen is really fluid and responsive, the buttons all work as expected and the unit is fast. Out of all the android units I have tried this one beats them all, hands down, in my opinion for my needs. The sound quality is really nice too. Theres so many new options for different themes and such since the firmware update it’ll take me awhile to go through all of it. Overall the best purchase I have personally made to upgrade my truck.

My 2015 tacoma has the backup camera in the factory stereo. Does this headunit do this without cutting any wires?

How are you communicating with the manufacture? I would love to demo test one of these. There is so many more questions that only hands on will help me answer. How did you demo this unit?

I did not demo the unit. I was testing it and making sure it works with the Tacoma. I went over the some of the issues found in a previous post. The units are now being mass produced since the compatibility issues are worked out. I also go over the harness in my videos if you have questions.

I also have the exterior TPMS sensors and the Wi-Fi obdii dongle on the way.

I really am looking forward to the TPMS. I really would like to see the tire air pressure and not just a light telling me one is low.

I have a feeling the Wi-Fi obdii dongle will not be able to be used with carplay at the same time as they both use Wi-Fi. I have tried 2 different Bluetooth dongle and none would connect.

I’ll post a video of how they work, they should be here next week.

The only issue with any obd device is that the unit currently uses its own obd plug for the reverse signal along with the rpm and speedo gauges. So on the backup camera you would need to run a separate trigger wire for that. I’m considering removing the obd plug altogether as that seems to be its only function at least for my truck, all the other features provided from this plug are for a truck with those features.

I'm pretty sold on this unit as an overall tech upgrade for the truck, and will be buying it at some point.

My main holdbacks at this point are that it runs Android 9, when most other Android units are on 10+, and the lower resolution 1200x800 screen. If those get upgraded, I'm an instant buyer.

@arcenik Think there are any plans from the maker to do that? I saw they do have other units for sale with 10, but in a different style hu

The reverse signal comes from the harness not the obdii. The obdii plug is only for the rpm and speed. The Tacoma does not support the other feature provided.

You can still use the obdii plug as it’s a t-harness. Is yours different?

Mine could be different….I did notice that when the obd plug wasn’t plugged in I could put it in reverse and there was nothing happening and as soon as I plugged it back in the backup camera worked again

I can ask. The new android 10 units usually run the new uis7862 processor. At least this is the case with most other android radios. This would be a nice upgrade to the unit.

Its a 2013 however mine had the camera in the rearview mirror so not sure if that makes a difference….I used camera source harness to move the image to the head unit
