I'm asking because the baby factory calipers have always performed for me, even with camping gear/tools/armor and 35s.

I also have disk brakes on the rear,, and again, not sure why so many people hype them up when the factory setup works well

 

My grandfather had a pristine black '56 Thunderbird for several years, I remember riding in it once when I was about 8 years old. Driving around the neighborhood looking at xmas lights

He sold it not long after, saying it made no sense to keep a car around that he was too afraid to drive for fear of hurting it

 

Idk, mine suck. Feel unsafe.

 

Aw that’s a shame. Fearing hurting would take all the fun out of it.

He was always tight with money like most people of that generation. Didn't buy things that didn't make sense or hold on to stuff that didn't.

I had a great aunt on the other side of my family that no one really talked to because she was a little loopy and the family regrettably ostracized her for it. Anyway she was a telemarketer in a call center most of her life. Lived in a tiny studio or tiny house by herself. When she died the family discovered she had over a million dollars to her name, just money saved up over a lifetime of living way below her means and never buying anything that wasn't necessary.

Kind of crazy to think about compared to today's world

it also sounds really boring but it might've made her happy

 

yeah, it’s weird the difference. So much has changed with how we regard stuff we buy. I know my grandparents were all about buying stuff that lasted and using till it can’t be repaired any more. Now I’m excited when something is even serviceable, let alone repairable .
