So this is my first black vehicle. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good wax for a black finish. I know AutoZone and everywhere else has that special wax for black vehicles but is that just a scam? Or is that something I should look into?... My truck only has 3000 miles so the finish isn't blemished or full of surface scratch, And I hope to keep it that way... But any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

Just use a liquid 100% carnauba or the 3m synthetic wax.

Fuck it! It's never going to look clean except for the 10 minutes after you spend two hours washing and waxing it.

Does the black wax actually make a noticeable difference? Compared to regular wax

0323201032_HDR.jpgI use Chemical Guys Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish Color Enhancer, followed with Jaspers Power Lock Sealant. This is the best stuff I've used in 40 years of paint care, especially for my wife's black car. It also works exceptionally well on my magnetic grey truck.

it did hide some light scratches for a minute. but i think the claying made more of a difference.

I concur. It's a whole process that takes all day, starting with a clean surface using a clay bar. I'm sure there maybe faster methods, but my wife's car is still pristine after a year and a half. Granted she only drives about 3000 miles a year and she's in the garage. My truck can go about almost a year but it's in the Arizona sun year round.

"Subject of clay bars". I used them for 10-12 years on my show cars and loved the slippery smooth finish they leave behind but after I started to notice that my paint was starting to look thin I stopped using them on a regular basis and used them only if wax couldn't get the effect I was after. The paint seemed to hold up a lot better then over the 21 years I had the car.
Most of the comments I have read on this link is true about dark colored cars. They look great all buffed out but it doesn't last long for the mount of effort that you put into them.
