Wait a minute. Does that need vacuum? I need to check that. Might have reoriented due to boost. Might be only getting atmosphere

Nope, wasn't it, still connected to intake manifold

    What's recommended for replacements?

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
One item that seems to take a hit from my frequent water crossings is the radiator fan clutch. I replaced one around this time last year with a new AISIN. It worked great for a while.
I noticed engine temps would rise at higher speeds but not too bad to be concerned. Around town and off-road temps held steady at 184F. Problems seemed to start last summer on the way back from Colorado. I remember doing a fairly long water crossing while I was there in July.

Recently, I've noticed a whining noise when idling and sometimes during acceleration. I thought it might have been the PS pump again. I remember the last fan clutch started to make a whining noise before I replaced it. I think last weekend's crossing in 3.5' water may have finished it off.

The Tacoma's fan clutch is nice and firm and doesn't allow for much spinning with the engine off. The 4.7L is a different story. It is easy to spin with the engine off.

Since I seem to be eating fan clutches on an annual basis, I think I will try one from Advance Auto with a lifetime warranty and plan to check on it and replace it as part of regular fall maintenance in preparation for higher water levels.

    Idler Pulley Differences

The top center OEM Idler pulley likes to fill up with mud and start making noise. I found a Gates (made in Canada) that has a slightly different design that is flat on the surface area around the bearing.

The center idler pulley is a one-year-old OEM. The one on the far right was on the 4.7L when I bought it. The new Gates is on the left. I think it cost around $69 - not cheap.

Going to see Daniel Tosh this December. Feels like it's been so long since I've been to a live show.

Does boost modify the vacuum situation in the intake? I have no idea, but if there’s not as much vacuum now…
