Feels like a truck. I test drove both, and you can definitely feel the rear end on the tacoma in the corners more than the frontier. The frontier is more car-like.

Much better than Frontier. I had a '05 (newest style) Frontier. The steering was not tight; It followed grooves in the road and wore tires horribly. My rear end gave out at 40K (and I only towed ATV's once in a while), my propeller shaft gave out at 40K, my fuel sender unit gave out at 51K (yeah warranty was up to 50K), my driver seat fabric wore out.
The truck had more power than the Taco and transmission was good but it was louder and over-all, it was cheaper for a reason.
The only thing that was nice about the Frontier was the rail system for tying down loads. Similar to the Taco, it had uni-strut adjustable tie downs behind the cab, on the bed sides, but it ALSO had two running parallel on the floor of the bed. REALLY nice.
However I would NEVER buy one again. In fact that was my 3rd Nissan and after that experience, I won't buy another Nissan either.
    Just my 2 cents.

Just 200 miles on the new sport and it is stable and no wandering on backroads and hiway driving. Note that the Sport has 17" tires and the OR has 16" tires and different tuning so the driving experience may vary on these.

I had a 2005 V6 Frontier and its steering feel was great. Felt connected, tight, not overly boosted... very linear. V6 was powerful, and the transmission was spot-on... never found it hunting for the wrong gear. The engine was a bit raspy at high RPMs, and my year had the annoying manifold tick, but otherwise, in 110k miles it had ZERO problems. Brake feel was very linear and predictable. Didn't drive it for its looks (too bland to me), but it was a reliable performer at a relatively low price.

Before I get flamed, I also had a 1996 V6 Tacoma (150k miles) that I loved. Nearly bulletproof minus all the damn rust on the frame! I now drive a 2010 Tacoma TRD-OR (15k miles so far). We were at a Toyota dealership to buy a used Nissan Xterra for my girlfriend, and I got a deal on the Tacoma I couldn't refuse. My opinion is the Tacoma's steering feel is much lighter, more boosted, and less connected. Which you prefer is a matter of personal preference.

Either way, I'm sure you'll end up with a great truck. Enjoy!

The Frontier drives alot more like a car, I test drove them, the Frontier Pro4x was my second choice,
The Tacoma just felt more like a truck, felt a bit more solid and rugged, Not as much car like, you may like or dislike that though.
DAMN good handling for a truck though, it can go as fast through the twists and turns as I want it to.

my 11 dc/or only has about 200 miles on it.
compared to my other vehicles, it drives like a freakin' dream
i never had anything with a computer in it, and I haven't set that bugger off yet since i'm going easy on the break in. honestly the only thing that concerns me is the weirdness of having the computer there, but hey, it's the 21st century, short of a god damn flying car, this truck seems awesome. it steers like a truck should, not too boat like, but it's still a truck.

i wanted a "small" truck with, 4 doors and some offroad capability stock. since there's nothing like that in diesel in the usa, tacoma is it.

dude i had an 06 nismo and the fuel sender went out at 32 k and they wouldnt replace it under warrenty......
2 weeks ago i got a recall notice for the nissan i had 3 years ago for the fuel sending unit.....
not to mention a blown motor which they did cover after a fight...
then after all that the tranny started slipping so i traded her in for my taco............
belive me my taco is a p.o.s. as well many many problems with it. but
try out what you like...there were many things i loved about the nismo that the taco realy dropped the ball on......
but i would say taco ftw:D
