    I am pretty new to the Tacoma world. I've got a 2011 Sr5 4x4 with a 2.7L. The axel code is A02A which from reading on here is a 8" 4.10 Open Diff. Also from reading on here, the 8" comes with a TRD and an elocker. I have neither a TRD or an Elocker. I have a lift and some larger tires on it (275/65R18) 32x11. My truck pretty much stays in 3rd gear if I'm over 55 and is all sorts of slow taking off. So I figured to throw some 4.56 gears in the front and back. I kept reading on here and looking around on ecgs and figured why not throw a detroit tt in the rear and an elocker in the front. Come to find out, most of that stuff is for the 8.4". Am I doing it wrong? Seems like there isn't much for options for the 8".

    This is the gear package I was looking at;

    You have the 8.4” or what’s that known as, the ring gear is still 8”, there is a truss across the bearing caps that’s the giveaway it’s not an 8”, plus you wouldn’t have the elocker. 05+ 2nd gens only had two styles of rear differentials, so if you don’t have the elocker from the trd offroad you have the 8.4”.

    Well that’s good news. Is there an external giveaway?

    You think so?

    The pumpkin shapes are different between the two, and the elocker you can see the actuator bolted to the differential.

    Here is my E-Locker Actuator.
    It’s in the right side of the diff looking down the driveshaft. 07476056-70EE-42B1-A1A3-4ABB9CB1DA5B.jpg

    To see the actuator. You need to be looking from the other side of the rear axle. See my post above.
