Well, winter is knocking on the door pretty hard......

Snow flurries, wind 40 mph, temperature low 30s, wind chill bottom 20s. Fortunately, the ground is too warm for accumulation.

Just finished mulching up the leaves with the lawnmower last Tuesday.

Guess, I need to pull the snow blower out of storage and prep for the season. Then clean and store the lawnmower.

These are usually chores during Thanksgiving weekend.

    Where else is winter knocking????

Our flurries have changed to horizontal snow. Central Iowa.

We will be into the deep below 0*F in a month or so.

Yeah, winter in central TX doesn't usually hit us till the beginning of the year, so I have some time before leaves and storing the mower... probably get in a few more mowing sessions till then too

    I've said this before.

As consumers, we have the power.
Quit spending on WANTS, spend only on NEEDS. This will have the greatest impact on the supply chain and prices.

Our Christmas this year will be without gifts. Not only to save $$, but to reject the insane price increases. We are even running the house temperature a few degrees lower. We were lucky this summer, we needed to replace and upgrade the insulation in the attic. Went from a 25 year old R-20 (maybe) to an R-49+. We noticed the AirCon was running less frequently. Trying to compare Nat.Gas consumption to last years numbers to attempt to quantify the savings.

I was hoping to get a HU for my truck, but the price has doubled since Summer. So, no HU.

What a shitty day today. These winter days suck.

Can't wait until real winter comes though. Hopefully I can actually get the skis and the sled out this season.

I expect to see improvement around March if it's anything like the last couple years. Last winter was no big deal.

First to answer the thread question...It's a mild Fall season right now in Delaware (60s-70s Fahrenheit). Barely warm enough to do DRY some touch up paint for a chip I received from a pebble that hit my roof near the windshield the other day.

Our winter doesn't go into full affect until Jan/Feb timeframe.

As for this Christmas idea...we as a family have worked our way down (thru the years) to the number of gifts bought for one another. My wife has been the driving force to have as many gifts to open up on Christmas morning for our kids (Adults now). I think it's because, coming from a family of 8 siblings, there was probably NOT enough money to go around for 1 gift per kid...and maybe none for 1-2 unlucky siblings. Wife has never mentioned that...it's something I am surmising discussing this subject.

Anyhow, I think the fact we can all be together at Christmas is the most cherished gift. Lounging around, eating, watching tv, playing outside, adult drinking is the right kinda mix for the best merriment in life.

We had our bonus room FULLY insulated last year and added a stand-alone HVAC unit on that side of the house. We also insulated other areas in the attic that allowed air to enter/escape. Used the same contractor to fill in all the areas that needed fixing. Our utility bills have come down and our quarterly evaluation letter from the Electric Company says we are in the better than 60-70% of those with similar homes.

I don't foresee us having too much of an increase in GAS heating this year...fingers crossed. I will be testing out my Taco in Jan/Feb time when I'm driving to work in the snow.

About 3 weeks ago it started raining and basically hasn't stopped, snow level is dipping down around pass level.

Looking forward to strapping in again

I actually miss winter. The first couple years after I moved to AZ from the midwest I enjoyed the novelty of no cold. Now I miss winter waterfowl & small game hunting. I miss breathing air so cold you can feel it frosting your sinuses. I miss being the first on the road after a snow.
