At $8k for head work, at what point does a new engine make sense? Assuming you are picking up the tab.

OP, how did you end up with this warranty company though Toyota? Did you buy through a dealership and they explicitly told you that it was a Toyota Platinum warranty? Car warranties, outside of the OEM, are pretty much useless. If this is the case, it takes dealership fuckery to a whole new level. Glad they covered it.

This is why I’ve never bought an extended warranty. I’ve heard to many stories like this.

Pretty sure the people selling warranties on dealership lots are probably the same people selling warranties via the billions of spam calls each year...so I'd say all aftermarket warranty companies are shady.

Those exclusions list 99% of what can happen to an engine. What is left that it will cover can best be expressed by:

What shitty ass warranty was this ... how was it "through toyota" when Toyota itself denied it?

You can over rev a manual by putting it into too low of a gear. For example at WOT you mean to shift from 3 to 4 but go into 2nd by accident. 100% user error but can cause engine issues.

Most of these warranties are shell games. It appears as if it is an outside company that is underwriting the risk, but in reality the only thing outside about it is just that: the appearance. Most of these extended warranties and mechanical breakdown insurance schemes are SET UP by an outside company FOR THE DEALERSHIP. The dealership is the one paying for the repair work done under the warranty, so they, in effect, are the insurance company. Kinda' like the fox guarding the chicken coup. THe dealership makes the profit off of the warranties sold, and the outside shell company is paid a management fee to handle the claims for the dealership as if they are the insurer. Hence, the shell game.

My rockers could fall off? Geez lol. Guess I better not play around with redline settings in vF again. 70 in 2nd. Sigh.

I’ve never made a mistake like that. Would be pretty hard to do that to be honest.

I agree but every day on here you see something you'd never think was possible. :D My motorcycle actually had a slipper clutch to prevent the tire from locking up with high RPM downshifts.

Before purchasing, I would read the fine print and check to see if there are any exclusions.

Extended warranty company is National Auto Care.
National Auto Care. At time of purchase, I didn’t know it was a 3rd party warranty company. I thought I was getting a Toyota extended warranty.
