Not necessarily. You can run a ground wire, does not need to with a wire bundle.

You may need cut some holes, maybe cut and patch some sections of sheet rock. But what you mention is in the realm of DIY.
Slab? Access via crawl or attic?

Is there a ground rod outside the box? Is panel box grounded?

Ground slab with Attic. There is a grounding rod. Panel was updated (looks like 20 years ago). A couple newer receptacles seem to be added also that do have ground.

What’s the smaller box to the right of the panel called? I do have 2 spaces left in the panel

My main goals are adding 1 bath room vent, adding hood range vent and hardwired smoke alarms and gfci

I think they are usually called a sub-panel. I could be wrong though.

I would say check your local electrical codes and see if you need a second ground rod. Some places require a second rod connected to the first one but 6’ away. Just a code issue there.

That open box looks like it’s just a junction boy. Possibly an old sub panel at one time but all the guts are missing.
If I were doing it, and they were close enough to one another, I would tie the bath fan and kitchen hood fan to one breaker and use the other for the smokies. The gfci you can use existing outlet and run a ground to it. Just add a gfci outlet.

Not sure how electrical savy you might be but if it was me, I would take out that junction box and install a new sub panel in its place. This would give you plenty of new places for additional circuits and all you’d need on the old panel is a big breaker to feed the new sub panel.

Gutted sub-panel used as a junction box seems like it to me too. Where does that go? (What does it power?)

If it were me I would put a whole new main panel in, but that is not really required

Agree to check on the ground rod requirements.

    Small house looks like.

Had a new hot water heater installed today. The old one was 15 years old and I was told it probably had 12" of sediment in the bottom.

I would like to put a new square d panel in but this is just a rental home. I am very handy and gonna re-pipe the 1200 sq ft home next week myself with uponor expansion but I’m not very electrical literate

They are PVC plantation shutters and they have a upper and lower split meaning top and bottom can be adjusted independently and both are 2 panel.....

Almost finished with everything. Need to finish baseboard moulding. Appliance delivery and installation from Costco was free and seamless. There was one tiny ding in the freezer drawer but not noticable enough to make a fuss about.

We put the Pergo Outlast + through the entire house 3 years ago and after living with it and observing durability we decided to extend it into the kitchen. Kept the transition to make replacement simple if it's need.

Wrapping up a bathroom. Hated the claw foot tub. This is the second one we’ve done and they suck. They’re old, chipped around the drain, need refinishing, had to weld the feet back together, expensive as shit to get fixtures for, but I’ll be damned if I’ll put an acrylic freestanding tub in the house or pay for the cast ones they have now.

I used to find antiques to use as vanities, but screw it- I’m going the easy route these days. I want stuff that works and fits without reinventing the wheel.

Also, shower doors suck. Took four hours this morning.

That shared wall between the shower & tub has a lot going on! Looks fantastic, love the shower door, the man-hours paid off! The stone slab you have on the bottom of the shower niche is what I want to do with the windowsill in my bathroom, it's just a matter of finding a remnant that matches the counter.
