All the cannabis stocks are running because of the news of new legislation in the works.

 

So I was just looking up what the deal with the borrow fee percentage thing actually is for shorting, im actually pretty amazed by these numbers.

So the fee on GME is currently 1.1%, thats not a daily cost, thats per year (they just pay out daily). So to short 100,000 shares of GME at $200 is going to cost them around $611 per day. If they borrow 100,000 shares at $200, then buy them back just $5 less (at $195) they have made $500,000. Now if it took them a full year to get to that point it would of cost them around $200,000 in fees, but they still sold them with $500,000 back in their pockets for a $300,000 profit.

Chances are it didnt take them a full year for GME to drop $5, but rather a afternoon. So that would mean they made $500,000 and it only cost them $611 in fees to do so.

Now from the reading that I did this should be right, but it could also be wrong. But it also aligns with borrow fees over 100% as there would be zero reason to borrow something at over 100% as you would pay daily fees more than the cost of the stock itself.
